Wow, Pix.
It’s looking good.
Looking good as always Pix. [tup][tup][tup]
Thank you James, pingtang, Lee Tree, & falcon !
The bird is assembled, just need to clean up a couple of seams. We’ve had a LOT of rain recently (thunderstorms[:(!]today), so I’ll hold off painting 'till the air is dryer. Moisture traps don’t get everything, and I’m not fond of repainting something that I’ve already painted.
Thanks again. Your kind words are much appreciated !
looks great pix!
I especialy like the undercarridge.
hows the swordfish coming along?
looks great pix.

Awesome, Pix!!! I just wish I could do half as well…
By the way, what colors are you using for your camo? I assume it’s the Russian dark green/dark earth upper-surface and some-light-blue-gray underside scheme. I have an unbuilt Airfix 1/72 Il-2 and the instructions call for Humbrol 29 Dark Green and 30 Dark Earth. But if my memory serves me right, these are the same colors Airfix recommends for British aircraft! They can’t be exactly the same, right? I ain’t a nitpicker, but I sure would like to get a second opinion on what the proper colors are.
Thanks obiwan, fightinjoe, & onyan !
obiwan - I just got some Alcad II Copper for the engine cowling on the Swordfish. I’ll be glosscoating & decalling in the next couple of days. I got a replacement set of decals for the Avenger (Thanks, Swanny !), and the stenciling is almost done (phew !)
onyan - I’m painting this one in a four-color camo, using Model Master enamels. They produce a Topside Green (#2122), Earth Brown (#2124), and Underside Blue (#2123). I will also be mixing a “weathered black,” using RLM 66 & Aircraft Interior Black (both MM). If you can get Model Master enamels, they’re a good match from what I’ve seen on “Wings of the Red Star,” on the Discovery Wings channel.
Thanks again for your interest !
Yup, pix, just looked at my Model Master II Enamels color chart and got an idea what your recommendations are. I’ll keep these in mind when I build my Il-2. Thanks for the tip! [:D]
