I’ve been on an eBay crusade the last few days, acquiring old Monogram blue box kits that I remember building multiple times as a child. So far I’ve won 8 of them, 7 1/48 and 1 1/72. The 48 scale kits, er, quarter scale as displayed on those boxes, are the Hellcat, Wildcat, Zero, Bf 109, Helldiver, Kingfisher, Spitfire, while the 72nd scale kit is the Do 17. I have my eyes on a Typhoon, Hurricane and Airacobra but probably will let those go since I’ve spent a lot on acquiring these 8 kits.
Just don’t tell my wife and I’ll still be living come tomorrow.[;)]
Yes. Pretty common. I just picked up via Ebay a 1/48 tamiya spitfire I, online a 1/48 Hasegawa Hurricane I.
I want a CA 1/48 spitfire Vb Yank, Also, a 1/48 Tamiya Bf-109E4, the new Special Hobby 1/48 Morane AI, The new Eduard 1/48 F6F-5 Hellcat, and a CA 1/48 CR.32. All told, well over $150 USD!!! [:D]
Well, at least I know I am not the only one! My wife started scrutinizing my hobby purchases lately, boo! Right before that, I managed killer deals on 1/72 Condor, He-177, BV-222. If she ever saw what the inside of my locker at work looked like…
Nostalgic kits are cool. All my childhood models were either brush painted, or left the molded in color. I saw that Revell is going to re-release the Typhoon. One of my unicorns is getting re-released too. The Revell USS Hornet +3. I think that was one the first kits I ever built. I think I’ll paint this one…
Have fun with it. Wish I could tell you to stop, but only fear of the boss stops me.
I think, of all them kits, the Typhoon is probably the best one…go for it!!!
I just spent about $200 at a show this past weekend, my wife has no clue!!! I even actually spent…uuuuuuuuuuhhhh…95 bucks on one kit!!! The only way I justify that is because I sold a few kits to get the cash for the ONE that I really, really wanted.
Glad to hear I am not the only one on a buying binge. Just bought a 1/32 Eduard Bf 109E-7 Trop, 1/48 Tamiya FW 190F-8, and a 1/35 Humvee. Not to mention a bunch of paint and resin! [:$]
That’s an affliction I used to share. Different subject though, car kits. But I didn’t have anyone to answer to except my checking account. lol Don’t worry, I won’t tell…
i was hooked on evil-bay a few yrs ago lasted about a yr won tons of stuff of course thats why i got about 1700 kits i am now building a bunch of them at 2 kits a week i got about 46-47 eastern block a/c and armor and i am on a ussr/ building streak i will never even look on evil-bay again
i think they got a 12 step program for people hooked on it
I liked to tell you to stop, but then I’d have to look in the mirror and say it to myself. I just got one heck of a deal on a 1/48 Trumpeter Condor (winning bid $40). With deals like that, ebay keeps calling me back.
Must resist the site…oh look a that’s one heck of a deal, oops bidding on something again.[whstl]
Yeh? I managed to win one of those B-58s I had asked you about this evening. For a good price too. First thing I’ve bought on ebay in a long time that I didn’t actually have to have. As in car parts and such.
