I agree, that is why I don’t tune in much anymore. It seems I see something I don’t care for or they replay the same thing a 1000 times. They still have some great shows. I’d like them to play “World at War” or “Battlefield”, so I can tape them, rather than spend $150 for the DVD’s
I love the history channel, I do agree with you though, UFO files, and stuff like Conspiracy are just not my taste. But There are others who dont like stuff like mail call (dont know who couldn’t like that show but I m sure there are) but they like UFO files…
The dicovery Wings channel is supposed to be changing soon to Military cannel or something. Also if you get the History international channel, They turn into the Military History channel on Saturday night (probably other days too) They have some good shows specifically on WWI &WWII.
Mail Call is still on> It’s listed as next showing 11 am tomorrow. T-34, you don’t like the “History of Indoor Plumbing” or Ice Truckers, two of which they seem to reshow ofter??[:P][:P]
Oh yeah, sorry guys, but i do have the complete world at war series, most of the victory at sea series and parts of Walter Chronkites World War Two series…sorry…they are all really good!
I long for the days when the Discovery and History Channels were nicknamed the “hitler channels.” because they showed so much german ww2 footage and a lot of other war footage. Now we get designing shows and ufo’s. [:(] I know that a lot people like the shows on those channels, but it seems like anything to do with military history is repeated so often I know what the narrator is going to say or a program isn’t done well. Oh well, here’s looking forward to the Military Channel.
I have been going through history channel withdrawls, even after a year! Thankfully the PX does carry some of their stuff on DVD, so I can get my fill of Roger Mud’s voice coming through my portable DVD player. I got season 1 of mail call about a month ago and I have about worn it out. Thankfully I will be back in the land of real TV in 16 days, 4 hours and 23 minutes, but who is counting. LOL
Part of the reason you’ve seen the History channel undergo a transformation in recent months/years is due to the fact that it is now owned and operated by Disney. This might go a long way towards explaining why the History channel now has a car building show, Full Throttle, ala American Chopper or Biker Buildoff or Monster Garage etc.
That’s why I have been scrounging at Barnes & Noble for Hist channel dvd sets (WWII and War Stories) on military topics when they go on sale at way less than the $24.95 an episode that A&E wants. I have also been able to use the pause and screen capture tools on my pc to capture additional detail views of various AFV’s to aid in modeling them.
history channel’s not that bad (of course i haven’t seen it for a while) but the shows discovery runs seem to have no scientific merit whatsoever. Like that animal vs animal show where they make a CG cartoon of a gorilla fighting a leopard and declaring that one would beat the other. Myth busters will set up “an experiment” and declare that something is impossible after one failure. TLC runs nothing BUT home decoration shows. didn’t they at least used to run junk yard wars, or was that discovery?
So what is this “Military Channel” stuff you are talking about? I am cetainly sick and tired of the History of dust stuff they play over and over…There seemed to be a time (February 2002-August 2003?) where they played alot of military material…anyway.
When id this Military Channel to come about?
