Some paint color questions...

I have a few Revell kits and oddly I could not find the color they quoted even in the Revell range of colors.

  1. Rubber - from research this is meant to be a greyish brown color
  2. Military brown
  3. Chromate green

I assume these coors have other more common names.

Can anyone shed any light on these?[:(]

1- I’d say go with your research- grayish brown

2- Military brown is a dark brown, sort of leather color. I’m not exactly sure what it looks like, maybe someone else knows…

3-chromate green is basically interior green- the same yellowish green as the interiors of just about every WWII US plane. There were variations, though, so check your references.

Go to Urban Fredrikkson’s Color Reference Charts here http://www.ipmsstockholm.org/colorcharts/colorcharts_2.asp

They have the most complete charts of paint brands with corresponding colors in other brands. Look under the Revell list and see what are the corresponding colors in other brands are.

Write down the site in your notes because it’s very helpful.

Just stick with using Testors paints, enamels or acrylics. Testors has GZC and Miltary Brown.

I believe I’ve seen MM color called ‘rubber’ or ‘tire’.

i have some Testors Rubber, but it seems to red brown to use on many things, certainly not tires

These should help. Model Master and Poly Scale paint charts from the Testors site.

First the MM Acrylic colors:

Next the MM Enamel colors:

Next the Poly Scale Military colors:

The color Rubber isn’t on these charts but they have it. If I might suggest Grimy Black from the Poly Scale line. I use it on all my tires. Looks great.
