Someone reminded me of this old post. Some funny observations on traps we armor modellers fall into!

What makes it so funny is its truth in the modeling world!
Well, no need to build the remaining armor kits in my stash as I’m just as guilty as the next guy for using some of these cliches…
And I don’t think I saw mentioned (maybe I overlooked it) ‘the AFV dropped by a helicopter’ issue: aka the vehicle is sitting on a base of sand or mud with no tread or tire tracks behind the AFV at all- almost as if someone just plunked it down instead of driving there.
Saw a beautiful model of a Stryker on a desert base a few months ago at a show- and no tire tracks whatsoever!
I must say that:
Soldiers spend 5% of their time fighting, 20% just standing with their elbows resting on something, and 75% pointing at something
Is very close to the truth given my time in the service. He only forgot to include the enormous amount of time sitting or lying down staring at the world with a blank look on your face. I have several photos of me doing just that.

Tanks never turned as the weight of the vehicle does not shift and track tension was identical on both sides.
I can almost hear the judge, IMPS or AMPS (I am an equal sarcasm opportunity person[:P]), at the contest saying, “The rest of the model is so nicely done. Too bad he screwed up the tracks.”
