I have found the applying solvaset to gloss Tamiya paints is not a good idea because it dissolves the paint. Is it safe to apply solvaset to Tamiya gloss clear as a gloss coat? Normally i would use future but my bottle is very yellowy and i dont know if it is safe to use…
Beltfed,
I have used Solvaset over Tamiya gloss clear and Future without any ill effects. The couple of times that I ran into problems was when I did not let the clear coat cure long enough. I now let the clear coat cure for at least 24 hours at room temp. Longer if the room is cooler. If your Future is yellowy…ditch it. Get a new bottle, that way you won’t be sorry. I am curious. How old is your Future? Where and how is it stored? The reason I ask is that I’ve got a bottle that is 5+ years old and still clear. I hope this helps
Cheers
Dave
The future is a good 5 years old, it was stored in my finished basement in a small, glass paint mixing jar (very similar to the jars regular paint are sold in. I sprayed it this morning and it preformed fine.
Cracking open a new bottle this week.
Just finished my last full sized bottle.

Beltfed,
I am glad to hear that there were no ill effects from using the Future.[Y]
Disastermaster,
So what is the cost spread out over 10 years? [:D]
Cheers
Dave
’ell, I can’t even remember what it cost back then.
