Sodium Acrylate?

Hi Folks,

I seem to remember that I saw a brief mention of using sodium acrylate beads – the things you add to flowers to retain water and that expand to 150 times their original size – in relation to water as part of a diaorama. Maybe I’m way off base but I thought that here might be the best palce to clear up the issue. Any thoughts about this anyone?

Thanks

Sodium polyacrylate mixed with water is used to make artificial snow for movies, but not for dioramas, at least that I know of, since it eventually dehydrates and reverts back to it’s original state, loosing it’s fluffy appearance. It is also used for disposable diaper filling…[whstl]

I don’t really see much else in the way of diorama usage.

Thanks Ixion, I appreciate the information.

Pity about that, they look really nifty and useful.

Maybe I should use them as frogs eggs in a giant frog diorama…
