so i go to my LHS.....................

I wen t to hobby people to get a 2.60 dollar can of tamiya acrylic Dark Yellow, and I wind up spending $ 90. Why you might ask. because when I walked in they just so happened to have on sale a King Tiger II with the motorized kit attached to it. A FULLY WORKABLE TIGER II OF MY DREAMS! the 130 dollar kit was on sale for only $ 80. thats as much as one of those FAMO’s. im stoacked. but i cant even open it until another 3 weeks. Final exams are coming up at SAGE HILL HIgh school, and I gotta set rules down so i stay on task. also the mother figure adds in.

Always nice when something like that happens. I walked into my old LHS before they went out of business and they had a table with kits at 50% off and up. Bought a DML Early Hetzer for only $11. I kick myself for not buying more.

That’s a great deal. Will you be able to make it 3 weeks without opening it? [:-,]

HOLY C**P!!! WOW!!! This is so unbelievable! Not the motorized Tiger II (which is pretty nice btw), but you go to Sage Hill!? Like, sage hill in Southern Ca? My best friend goes to Sage Hill (Peter Bishop), and I go to Woodbridge High School! We might even be going to the same LHS!

Great score JFPuishys.
That is typical of me too. I sometimes go to the LHS for something as simple as files and end up coming home with a few boxes.
Always find something new and interesting so I worry that next time I come it wont be there anymore.

yhea i do go to sage hill high school in NEwport Coast Southern California, and yes I do know peter Bishop. no i do not think i can make it 3 weeks. but i lasted a day without tearing open the shrink wrap. who wnats to put a bet on how long ill last.

[#ditto] Last time I went in for just paint I came out with the Pro Modeler Me410 I’ve been dying to get for 1/2 price. Sometimes you just can’t say no. [:D]

It almost happened today. I dopped by to casually pick up a 5-pak of #11 blades. Almost ended up buying the new DML King Tiger Ardennes.
But coming to a grim conclusion that there is a stack of unaid bills on the kitchen table suddenly sinked in.
No King Tiger today, just blades.

[:(]

rules are made to be broken[:D]

Hobby shops are a money vacuum(sp?)-may as well be a gambler in Vegas.

But unlike Vegas, you leave a winner every time.

Well said! Mr. Tiger!

Wish I had your experience. I went to the LHS today only to find the doors closed and a sign saying their out of business.

heh, I’ve been in such a mess lately! My new fiancee is totally running the financial show that I don’t think I’ll be buying another kit for awhile… she told me last night after we made our budget to see if we could afford an apartment (out on Long Island, the most expensive place in the Universe) to make my current kit,DML’s Initial Tiger, last for a really long time! Turns out we’ll be living by the skin of our teeth until I graduate College…

That would suck. Fortunately, I never yet had that experience.
I would be like a death in the family. (Well, sort of)

i just couldnt take it. 36 hours. I bought it after football practice, and opened it later that next day. It looks like my will was defeated. It is pretty kick @$$ though

Very nice grab. It’s always hard to fight that temptation, especially when you see that one kit that you just have to have. Recently, I got the FAMO with trailer for 150 CAN. It was just too good of a deal to pass up.

The devil`s got the best of ya.

I must say 36 hours is impressive. I usually wait until I have returned to the car and then crack the cellophane off the box. Ahhhhh the smell of a new kit.

I can also sympathize with CDN Tanker, it stinks not being able to walk into the LHS and say "A little from column ‘A’ and a little from column ‘B’ " when you’re a student with a fiancee and bills to pay. There isn’t a whole lot left over to spend at the LHS. However, CDN Tanker there is light at the end of the tunnel [soapbox] I scrounged my way into numerous items while at Law School and kitted myself out with a great setup for next to nothing. Just by eliminating one cup of coffee every day on my way into school saved me $481.75 for bills etc. so that when Christmas came around my wife bought me a gift certificate for the LHS for the value of a month’s worth of coffee. Added bonus is my hands are a lot more steady after the cutback on the caffeine.

Anyway hang in there.

My greatest score from the LHS…was actually a couple of tools for the bench that are long out of production but too sweet of a deal to pass up. I bought a Dremel Lathe and the 4" inch table saw both new in their boxesfor $110.00 Canadian. Both had been mislayed in a storage room and were only recently discovered. The lathe is great for turning ammo rounds that are not available or if I do not want to pay for the “aftermarket barrel” I can turn one myself. The tablesaw is really great for dioramas and structures.

Cheers;

Gregory
