A while back i was asking about hetzer kits and all that, and i found one by dragon. when I looked in the box, i was really impressed with all the stuff in there, but the problem was part of the main hull of the tank was not there! the whole fender and corner of the body had been missed by the plastic i suppose.
So i took it back, and traded it in for the T34-76 mod 1941 kit. Again, hugely impressed with the kit. and no mold problems or anything. photoetch parts, steel cable, headlights and cool decals. I liked it so much i went back and bought the panther A Late type, and was even more impressed! This one even has a metal barrel! [:)]
The only problem is I still dont have my hetzer![:(]
Anyway, one question: inside the T-34 box there is a little piece of cardboard in a plastic bag with what looks like a portion of a black and white photo on it. is this like one of those things where you buy all the stuff and put the pics together or what? anyone know what I’m talking about?
oh, actually one more question: the decals for the t-34 include sort of a checkerboard pattern for the edges of the turret. I’ve never seen this on a photo before, am i just sheltered, or what?[;)]

I just bought that kit. I will go home tonight and see if I can’t see what you mean> By the way, there is a review for this kit on line (I think it was on Greatmodels) The major problem was that there are a bunch of decal options, but all but two are not appropriate for this tank. The checkerboard pattern is to simulate a type of camo that is supposed to look like tire ruts from the air> That one is correct for the kit.
Why not just go get one on eBay?

If you don’t want to get one of those command Hetzers that seem to be as common as mud, click the same link in a few days and you’ll find more Hetzers there.
i dont have a problem with ebay, except that im in canada, so when you add up the exchange rates and shipping, plus the possibility of extra customs charges, its usually just easier to wait and see if something shows up at the store, and build one of my other 25 kits in the pile in the meantime.
Of course, i may have to just go ahead and bite the bullet on this one…
oh btw the one i had was the early version, not the command one.
Sounds good, maybe I confused you with the guy who couldn’t find a Hetzer kit. BTW, I think there are Canadian vendors in eBay too – you can specify by location of seller in your search. Wouldn’r hurt to pop a search in their system and have them e-mail you when the kits become available.
OK- I looked and I also have the little card board thingy. I absolutely have NO clue what it is, however. Mine kind of looks like an engine or something, so maybe it is supposed to go under the photo etched grill that attaches to part 25. Any of you T-34 experts out there, can you verify if the T-34 engine was one dimensional and made of card board??

It seems to be about the right size and shape for fitting underneath. odd they don’t mention it in the directions

may be wrong, but I think the checkerboard pattern decal is type of camo, or ID marker the Russians used. does it look kinda like a tire mark going across the turret?

So the kit is $40? So much for Dragon being the clearly-cheaper alternative to Tamiya! Maybe they should consider doing 1/48th … [:p]
The Dragon T-34 is $25 (american) at Great Models
Dragon is usually a cheaper alternative to Tamiya, but some things are so highly collected, that the prices shoot up. No comment on the new stuff though. Some of it is fair, some too expensive for me.
Not a bad price at all! The Cookie Sewell review sez it’s 35-40 smackeroos, hence my comment. Seems like a lot of simoleons for a Draco kit.
Not that I care – you invest so much time and effort into building kits, an extra ten or fifteen bucks to get the best quality shouldn’t get in your way, if at all possible.
I wonder if that was an estimated price? The MSRP at greatmodels was about $32. I haven’t built it yet, but the contents are quite impressive for a mid-20s priced kit- photo-etched, wire tow cables, fantastic and accurate representation of the T-34s card board engine.

Last week I bought DML’s new King Tiger with Porshe Turret for 33.85 €, in the same shop they also had Tamiya’s King Tiger Porshe, that one costed 48.5 € that is a difference big enough to buy a smaller kit with [:)]
