Snowdrops in Hell / M3 Scout (Zvezda) MP '44 Winter

Snowdrops in Hell _ 44/45 Belgium, Germany

So here are the first pics about the 1:35 Zvezda M3 Scout…60%…base paint with a limited weathering, aging…need to correct some mistakes… (This kit is one of the worst of my life! I dont recommend to anyone…)

The figures came from the Dragons 101st AB / Bastogne w/ Verlinden heads…needs some corrections

The Ma’ Deuce and .30cal is an Academy made…US machine guns set…very very recommended… the .50 cal is altogether 15 parts with the mounting and ammobox!!!

I think the figures are rather well done. The car itself looks really clean. I just don’t understand what’s going on with your base… You have ammo there that is obviously far too large for the calibers of guns, and I don’t understand what all the red is [:)]

[#ditto]

the figures are nicely done!

If you look closely i dn’t think he meant the platform to be the actual diorama platform… it’s actually a frame for a painting of a flower i think, thats what the red and green are.

Hey, you’re right! But those 75mm ammo crates are kinda out of place…

Guys, guys easy! Its not finished yet… the base is only a drying and cutting base…the ammo crates goes to another kit…the car needs weathering, marking and detailing…

So its only about 60% ready yet.

But thanks for the posts

Hey Tom,

you’re making some nice progress, maybe next time put in the title, work in progress, or something like that, so the lads know… most of the time when you have such a detailed title such as yours, people expect a full diorama

I see. Sorry for that…but i wrote in my first post…60%…

Next time i will do that.

Update for M3 Scout…almost done…

Really a nice job on what I’m sure was a real bear to build–what were the issues with it?!

Whatcha using for snow? Please don’t use something like baking soda; that is, something from the kitchen that’s too chemically unstable…might I suggest slathering on clumps of white celluclay under the wheel wells to simulate packed-in snow?

I think it’s looking pretty cool, I like the straps on the boxes and jerry can things. Are ya gonna whitewash the M3 to go with the winter scene?

The FULL kit a problem…

Fixing problems, unlogical parting, some places the plastic was too thin, the glus melt it (? right word?), moulding mistakes, the blueprint…ahhhahha, nightmare…

To tell the truth the kit is very old, so dont expect too much…

The snow has to wait…i haven’t got space for a diorama… and my i can’t wait my next kit, a Academy M10Duckbill w/ full interior…I want to start it!

Anyway i just thinking about the “snow material”…dont know yet… last week i “bought” some modelling manuals, books etc… perhaps ther will be some good ideas…

The straps will be replaced, 'cause I used a gloss duck tape…looks bad to me…so here comes the chocolate paper…

No there will be no whitewash…i’m out of white paint :))

My biggest problem is that I cant find an exact division numbering, marking for it…
I know that the P is the sign of the MP unit…but divisions???

Need help…and thanx the post.

Enough…i reached the 99% border…the result:

looks really nice tomgrey. might i suggest that you dirty it up a little bit. not too much, but maybe a little bit in the treads of the wheels, just some dusting. looks like it just rolled out of the factory. i like the storage crates and tarps all rolled up. is that rope/cable in scale?

Thx. I dont wanna “dirting” yet, because sometimes i’d like to make a diorama with it. And probably it will be a winter dio…and the dust is not too acceptable for it. The rope is not really scale…but i think its not impossible to accept in this size.
