Snow modeling?

How do you guys model snow? Is there some quick and dirty way to do it? Is there some material you can put over still-wet ground material to make convincing snow?

In my first ever winter dio I used plaster of paris as snow. Many of those who saw it said it looked OK.

Model Scenics Railroad accessories makes a great product called, of all things, Snow. It is a compound called microbaloons and looks and falls, etc just like snow. It is great. I used it on my Korean War winter dio, below. All you do is wet the area with a watery adhesive, I used pump hair spray. Spray on the adhesive, then sprinkle on the snow. For heavier area apply more adhesive and then more snow till it is as much as you need. Here is the dio:

Thanks guys. That snow looks good, heavyarty.

Dwight, how did you apply the Plaster of Paris?
