Smer Supermarine Walrus Question...stumped you guys?

Does anyone know where I could find reference material on the Walrus? I googled already and found some pics but only 1picture of the cockpit, and not a great one either. I`m interested in the interior mostly…cockpit/radio compartment.

Wow! This is a real stumper. I guess I`ll have to wing it…lol.

You only gave us one day, Len!

Here’s all I’ve been able to find for my own Walrus.

Be sure to post pictures of your build, I’d love to see yours.

Hi Len,

I am new to the forum but have been reading it for several days now. I have to say I am very pleased with all of your attitudes toward each other and your builds. Much different than I have seen on other forums I have subscribed to. Enough said.

On your post, the pictures others have posted are better, but I found this video clip of the prototype flying. Near the end it shows some inside shots of the cockpit. I thought you might enjoy. I hope it helps somehow.

In the google search type “supermarine walrus cockpit” and click on pictures. I found around 3-4 different pics without realy scrolling down.

Heh…I knew Id get a few replys with that "stumped Ya" remark..lol. Unfortunately, Ive been there/ done that with Google/Google Images. There are exactly 2 pics of the cockpit IP and yoke. I was kinda hoping to find a shot of the seat and radio compartment behind the pilot. I guess it doesnt help that there is only 3 Walruses left in the world. Ill just have to “imagineer” the rest…lol. I remember seeing a walk-around book of the Walrus…maybe I can track one down.

Thanks everyone, I appreciate your help!

BINGO! After digging around for an hour or so I found this…http://www.seawings.co.uk/walmangal.htm …It has the whole manual for the Walrus broken down into thumbnails…answered alot of the questions I had!

I have been digging through my magazine pile because I remeber reading a hefty section about this little workhorse. I believe it was an issue of Aeroplane in their Database section. Unfortunately even a vist to their site did not bare any fruit, but surfing through the Airfix forums uncovered an issue to search for: “Morgan, Eric. “Database: Supermarine Stranraer.” Aeroplane , Volume 29, no. 4, issue 235, April 2001.” Goodluck with the hunt and build, looking forward to some progres pics.

HA…we both must`ve found that “seawings” site at the same time! Tremendously helpful…has the pics that I was looking for. Just wish they were a little sharper. At least I can see what has to be “scratched” to get it looking like the real thing.

This will be my 1st attempt at scratchbuilding something at this level…cockpit floor, folding co-pilot seat, etc.

Hope I can pull it off!

Thanks again,

Len
