Sludge wash for Panther tank wheels

I am currently building a Panther tank w/ a snowy camoflauge. I wanted to use an enamal wash, but didn’t know how to prepare one. I tried the method that Matt Swann uses, but I don’t like to deal with acrylic paints. If anyone could help me out here I would really appreciate it.

Hi Tengel , try artists oils ( Color- burnt umber) thinned down with thinners, it should look like dirty thinners, and apply. I know some peole also add ground pastle to the wash as well.

Hope that helps.

I’m not sure about the right mixture for an enamel wash, because I use artists water colors. However to get that added grimy/sludge look, I grind up some pastels and mix them in. I also make my wash a little thicker too.

Thanks guys. I’ll try out those methods. These forums sure and handy.
