this may be the best place to ask this… I play the InitialD arcade game and I was wondering why The RX-7 is referred to as the FD3S, the Trueno as the AE86, etc… what’s the reason behind having two names? It’s a little silly, so appologies in advance. [:D]
I believe it has to do with the denomination used in Japan. But they can also be special editions of the models in question, like the Z06 or Z28 models.
As for the AE86 vs Trueno name, it is much like the Cavalier or Sunfires being refered to as “J-bodies”, a typically internal company designation that has been adopted “outside the walls”.
