Howdy, helo specialists!
I was just wondering, have there been any kits of the Skycrane other than the old 1/72 Revell and 1/100 Tamiya kits?

There’s one in Revell’s catalogue but it must be the re-re-re-re-release of the old kit…
Yeah, probly, eh?
That’s a very cool helo that has been ignored for too long. A nice 1/35 version from Trumpeter or somebody would be appreciated! ( I mention them because they’re the most likely to do one. Or maybe Panda…)
If Panda did one…you might get it by 2006?
Yep! at least in 1/32 scale would be nice!
Brian, they have to do a large scale Rafale first!
I think oldhooker posted a thread of a french guy scratch building a 1/48th version
“Right you are, wibhi2”,
The individual’s name is Philippe Dognon. He has coverage of an incredible scratch-build in progress of a 1/48 CH-54 here:

For those who are unaware of this website, here’s the link,

I’d be happy with a 1/48 “Crane”! [;)]

Wow, that 1/48 Skycrane is incredible!
Thanks for that link, guys.
Wow indeed!
Gosh-Thath 1/48 is something else! Nice Work!
It has been my experience on this forum that once a really difficult scratch build has been started, a kit will appear within 6 months - heres hoping !.
On a different note, a friend id mine has started looking at a project to build an Irish Air Corps Sikorsky S61N.
Is there a conversion kit available in 48th for the Hasegawa/Revell kit?
As a postcript,
Philippe won a gold at Telford with this model.

That’s great, he really does nice work! I wish I could find some pictures of the finished product, I bet it’s something, and…
…it sure would be nice to see a larger scale production of the Crane!
Speaking of such, for those of you who were in Vietnam, I’m sure you saw Crane’s slinging Chinooks… but… I bet you can count on one hand (probably one finger), how many times you’ve seen a Chinook slinging a Crane, even in pictures!
Honestly, the ONLY time I’ve even heard of such a thing, was in 2002, while CH-54 #66-18409 (an old 147th “Hillclimber” bird), was being lifted to Ft. Hood to be restored and put on static display.

Thanks for the link, Pops, unfortunately it doesn’t work[:0]
I have the HKN Gallery featured in the links on my webpage and have Philippe’s ACH-47A included in my “Visitors Projects” section. He does Truly Fantastic work, and has been an inspiration to me.
I’ve noticed a marked deterioration in my vision since completing my last complex scratch build a couple years ago, and my doctor said that it was directly related to the “Prolonged Eye Strain” which occurred during the 8 month project. He prescribed glasses for me to wear while I’m modeling, but said the damage had already been done.[B)]
Take care
Frank,
That was my fault[:I], gave you incorrect url.
Try this with the _ added.

Sorry to hear about the eyes. The same happened to me, you have my sympathies.
I find one of those large mag’ lamps with a day light tube works very well.
I can work for far longer without strain.
Regards.
P.
Ps. Just tried it and it works[^][^][^][^]

Thanks for the link, Pops, it’s nice to just go look through some
of his stuff when I’m having trouble on a relatively simple construction
step… very inspirational!
