"Sky Captain"- Glimpses of WWII?

Seeing the trailers for “Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow”, I couldn’t help but notice at least two WWII era aircraft. Everyone should have seen the P-40 Warhawks (I think that’s the right designation. Whatever.), and in one scene I think I saw the rear end of a B-24 Liberator.

I guess my point in all this is, because the movie was made with 99% greenscreen technology, this could show the future potential of the computer for any future WWII, or even WWI aircraft movies. Actual aircraft of that period are dissappearing fast, which also means the dying out of the epic aircraft war film. “Pearl Harbor” actually suprised me. That movie was made with maybe five aircraft (at the most) of the most numerous aircraft.

Regardless, I plan to see “Sky Captain”. Looks like it might be pretty good.

There was a really brief glimpse of a blue-painted XP-55 if you watch VERY carefully. It isn’t in all of the commercials, though. Wasn’t the B-24 getting shot up by those jet-bird things?

Ive been wanting to see this since I saw the previews over a month ago. I just hope they dont go too far. I think I saw the P-40 “flying” underwater though… that might be a bit too far. I can handle a 1940’s America and England battling aliens, shoot even get the Nazis in on it… after all it IS for the survival of the human race (unless its the Nazis doing the invading)… but a P-40 flying underwater… thats pushing it. Ill still go though!!
