Size and scale you build

Continuing the discussion from Do you stick with one scale or several?:

Age and eyesight limits the scaleI do BUT I also do1/72 WWII twin engine bombers As far as Star Trek ships go (for me) the larger the better !

Yep. Eyes and old fingers limit scale sizes. Currently I do 1/48 aircraft and armor. I do build an occasional 1/35 scale armor.

Welcome to the forums Shotgun1.

Welcome to the Forum Shotgun1! I like to build 1/35 scale armor kits. However, the bigger the better as I am getting into 1/16.

Welcome to the Forum. A good opening question. I build 1/35 scale armour. All of my builds typically include photoetch details and all of them end up in dioramas (figures, context and story are important or else it is just a shelf queen in my opinion). I also have a 1/72 scale Flower Class corvette and the Airfix 1/600 HMS Hood, HMS Ark Royal and Bismarck to get built. I have built a 1/48 scale F-18C and have a 1/48 Wild Weasel Phantom, a box-scale (I believe 1/56 )Bomarc Missile and the classic 1/48 Gemini capsule in my stash. But I build aircraft rarely, strictly for a change of pace. I find my Optivisor is now a routine tool in my work and I have added a number of them with different magnifications so that I have the right view for the right task.

Welcome Shotgun!

Like others, the scales I build in have a lot to do with eyesight. I’ll dip into the smaller scales when there is a subject that I find irresistible. Prototype and experimental aircraft are particularly abundant in 1/72, even though I would prefer 1/48. And though 1/72 and 1/48 armor kits are looking very good these days, I stick with 1/35 since PE origami at that scale is already at my limits.

I cautiously avoid 1/16 armor, as I am afraid that I will like it…

Mainly:

1/35 armor
1/48 planes
1/350 ships

I did start in 1/48 Armor and switched over later, and I did do two 1/16 armor kits, but thats it,I pretty much stick to my scales.

I usually build 1/700 waterline ships, but occasionally do a 1/350 scale ship, or 1/25 scale racing car or 1/72 scale armor or aircraft.
