Simulating rust on 1/35 scale tanks

Are there any guides to painting rust on tanks.

rust coloured pastel - grind it up, mix it with thinners, paint it on.

is it had to do, as i’m an amateur and just started building kits

Try using the Rust-All product. It can be purchased from Micro Mark.http://www.micromark.com

Burnt sienna is a good paint to use, especially as an overall wash.

I use mostly acrylics. For rust, I use a mix of red brown with a little bit of flat black. Washing and dry-brushing helps a lot.

Good luck.

Use Testors rust enamel. Use as a wash for tracks and other areas.
Take a rust pastel chalk, scrape the chalk into a napkin with an x-acto blade, then dip a brush (dry) into the chalk and dab it into/onto the places you wish to highlight. When done overcoat with a flat of some sort.

I was thinking about buying a item called rust all. Does any one have feed back on this item.

I use the rustall alot, for dark washes and rust on tracks and vehicles. It goes on in layers and is very easy to control. Then you can use pastes when its dry, its well worth the price IMHO
