Alright, I’ve seen what some people can do, so I’ve decided that I want to buy one. what do i look for when i purchase this “silver artist’s pencil”? any particular brand that I would be able to find at hobby lobby or michael’s? Thanks guys!
I use the Prismacolor metallic set, 7 or 8 in the set, that I picked up at Staples but should be available in art stores too. Not sure if thesilver is available individually.
Some art stores do sell individual pencils. Almost any will do.
Well thanks for the info, guys. Looks like i’ll be heading out to purchase some tomorrow!
What is so special about Silver Artists pencils? [%-)]
Silver pencils can be used as a alternative to dry brushing. Use the same method of lightly passing the pencil over raised detail and building up color slowly.
Prismacolour is definitely good stuff. If you can’t find their plain silver pencil, I’ve found their blue metalic one works just as well.
If you can’t find Prismacolour, try to find Staetdler or Ko-i-noor. all three a very good brands.
Now there’s something I did not know! [:O] I’ll have to dig out my colored pencils & see what colors I’ve got[:D]
I’m in the middle of building 2 kits of the Accurate Miniatures 1/48 TBM following the “Avenger Build” instuctions on the AM website. Prismacolor pencils have been a godsend for the excruciating details of the flight deck and bomb bay.
I would never have attempted that level of detail with paint and a brush!

Definately something I will try too. Thanks for the tip.
