I have recently gotten back into modeling and have little room in my house with two kids and all. I would like to use by garage for airbrushing but I need a compressor that is quieter than my 15gal porter…tends to wake the little ones.
I also need a spray booth .
Anyone have any suggestions for a silent compressor powerful enougnh to spray enamels as well as a spray booth for use in a closed garage. Too cold outside to keep the door up.

In regards to the compressor, what do you want it for?
Is it for model airbrushing only? If so then the cheapest quiet compressor I know of is the Thayer & Chandler Air Star V which Badger is selling refurbished on their website for $99. It is a good little compressor as I used one myself at the Nationals in Phoenix. It has a built in regulator/moisture trap and an airbrush holder on top.

If you wanted something a little more powerful then the Badger Million-Air compressor would be the one I would look at. This is the one I use and it is excellent, although it is three times as much money as the one I mentioned earlier. In regards to spray booths in an enclosed area, the ones made by Artograph are good but they are not cheap.

If you want a spray booth, try making one yourself. There are a bunch of designs out there, just do a search. Another option, if price is not that important, is to buy one. I looked around and finally went with one by Pace industries. They have several sizes and I bought the largest. It is truly the largest one out there. It uses ordinalry furnace filters, has a built in light, extended work table on the front, variable speed fan and several accessory outlets on the side. I have mine vented out my basement window and when I spray enamels, I have no ordors in the house. It was a little pricey but worth every penny.

He said he wanted to spray in the garage with the doors shut so he would need an active charcoal filter setup in his spraybooth.
Yours exhausts outside and wouldn’t work for what he wants. [;)]
