sikorsky flying boats

Have any of these planes been kitted: S-38, S-40, or S-42?

Czech Master Resin (CMR) made the S-38 in at least two finishes, 1:72 scale. Google ‘Sikorsky S-38 Model’

Contrail sells a number of the old Sanger vac-formed kits. I have a Blackburn Iris 1/72 kit.

I know you didn’t ask specifically about the JRS-1 (S-43), but it’s been kitted, too, in 1/72 by a couple of makers.

Yeah, have the -43 kit, it has been started, on my shelf of suspended projects. Ed, I’ll look for that CM kit.

And I thought I was the only one with this affliction!!! That was a unique era in aviation history.

I do not know if they are stil flying but there were a few Martin Mars flying boats operating as fire bombers out in western Canada. Anyone know if this has been kitted?

I heard in one of the avaition mags the last one was retired this past year. Don’t know if any kits out on it.

How about the VS-44? There’s actually a very nicely restored one in Connecticut, it’s the only one left in the world. Anigrand made 1/72 and 1/144 versions of it. They also made a 1/72 model of the S-42 Eduard and Sword both made the S-43 in 1/72 scale. Special Hobby did as well, and a look at the Special Hobby kit shows that the sprues are the exact same as in the Sword kit. Matter of fact, the little bit that I can see of the Eduard kit suggests that all three of these share the same molds.
