Show your Revell/Monogram builds

Monogram P-61 “Black Widow” w/natural weathering…( dust )…[sn0ps]

Ok, here we go, one plane per post as requested.
There are a couple of broken aerials I havent repaired yet. Battle damage from the move.

I just posted that in fun. Lol But it does have a wing on the rear hatch…

Well I suppose a spoiler counts as aerodynamics…LOL![;)]

well here is the old original issue of the 1/48 Sandy/SPAD

Do Revell reboxes count, or is this original R/Mono?

Here’s one. The 1/72 F-82 which I did up SAC style with all handmade decals, except for the starsn’bars, the tail numbers and the “USAF” up top.

It’s all good to me Bondo…[;)]

My whole intent here is to show what can be done with those kits. Too many times on here I read, " …stay away from R/M, they are junk…"

As can be seen here, that is hardly the case. While some are challenging and many are dated, I have yet to see any “junk” here. Some even win awards…

Love the Widow troublemaker - I keep flirting with one at the LHS but then talk myself out of it due to the display space I have to work with. [:'(]

The Widows here are a perfect example. How many times has it been said on here that that particular kit is a “DOG”. Yet here are several beautiful builds of that kit…[:O] It’s in my stash too, but for the same reason (display space) I have not tackled it yet…

Here’s another “naturally” weathered old kit…[;)] Rebuilt after heavy damage in the 1993 Landers Earthquake…

Nice looking Frogfoot there Stickpusher! Any AM stuff or was it OOB?

Thanks Herc… That award you have is most interesting…[;)]

Here is another quake rebuild, naturally weathered Commie flying Death Dealer…the 1/48 Hind

Stikpusher, nice looking Hind. I just got that kit for Christmas…what did you think of it?

Thanks Vance…Im just about outta room myself...I guess Im gonna hafta make more room…I have a pretty big stash waitin` to be built…[:D]

Hercman, on the Frogfoot, it was all OOB except for some extra PE I threw onto the inside of the canopy to detail the inner face. And some resin Soviet Smart bombs on the pylons and the decals.

Oddman, to tell the truth I built that Hind around 1990 or so and don’t recall any details of the build. Looking at it, I can see where I used filler on some seams and that the fit is not perfect, but I think a good portion of that goes back to my skills at that time as well. I do know I would like to build another one. Probably with a Cobra Company update to make a Hind F. I just love the look of those machines.

Me to… my space was getting used up… but I just made more room… son moved out, so his room now has some “stash”, and I made a gun cabinet, so the rifles are moved off the wall from the mancave, and moved to the annex down the hall… now I can add some shelving to the man cave…! [Y]

I’ve only built a few of the RoGs, but here they are

1/32 Bell X-1

1/48 P-61

1/48 visible B-17G

1/48 EA-6A Intruder

1/72 F8F-1 BearCat Blue Angels

Enjoy,

Fred

Thanks…I didn’t think the ordanace looked like Revell/Monogram stuff. I am going to have to pick that kit up. I wanted the Eduard kit but seeing how well yours turned out I may have changed my mind.

Nice models everyone, you got to love the 1/48 Me109 best 109 for the money I still have 2 more of these in the stash.[:D]

Damon

Lots of good stuff! Keep 'em coming! Always great to see those B-17s! Damn. You are right about those 109s. Excellent bang for the buck in that kit.

Another oldie of mine (about 20 years now) the 1/48 F-15A in IDF 1982 markings

One thing I have noticed on my old builds- nothing to do with the builds, but with the finish- using Testors Gloss and Dull coats in the decal process with Micor Set/Sol. There tend to be staining under the Dull Coat from the Mirco Sol/Set that becomes more noticeable as time passes. Especially on light color aircraft. Anybody else have old kits where this shows up?
