I decided to take up the challenge sey by Fly-n-hi following on the great idea started by stikpusher, this is to show off your Dragon aircraft builds. Dragon armour could fill a forum all on its own, and maybe soemone will start that one.
same rule as the other threads, one aircraft per post.
Some of the older Dragon 72nd aircraft kits are often criticised. But they do some great subjects, for people like me anyway, and my experiance has been a positive one with no major issues in the two kits i have built so far. So these are my two, both 72nd scale.
And in 1/48, the Heinkel 162D. Main landing gear was really fiddly, but to be honest, the real thing was the same way so I don’t think I can blame Dragon for that. Also had to get out the elbow grease when attaching the forward-swept wings. Great details all over though, I’d build another one. “what-if” markings using a mix of kit decals & spares from a Hase kit.
TREY, great work. I take it these are all 48th. I didn’t realise that Dragon had such a colection of 88’s, but then i don’t really look at 48th kits.
Vance, love the 162, agains, another kit that i didn’t realise Dragon did. I have the 72nd 162A, so i guess i will have the same joys with the undercarrage on that. I didn’t have to worry about it on the Mistal.
Bish thanks,yes 48 scale. I really like what you did with both of yours wish they were available in 48 as well! I’ve also got the Dragon Balloon cutter version JU88 A-6 in the stash but after the A-4 I think it will be a while before I dig into that build;) BTW what did you use for the NMF on the Me424 it really turned out sharp?
Thanks. I am a big fan of the 88 and have noted that Hasegawa have brought out a 72nd kit.
I used Alclad on that. It was only the second time i used it, but i really like it. I use a few different shades and even mix them to get a range of panel shades.
Oh wow Bish - that undercarriage in 1/72 scale?? (Insert a cross-eyed smilie here!) You’ll need fine tweezers and a 3rd hand lol. Actually, they may have simplified it some for the smaller scale, could be alright.
