Hi all, this is a very self indulgent post, i know. But i am in the process of building a 190 D from Tamiya. In going through my reference books, ive come to the opinion that this plane has to be my favourite looking WW2 German aircraft…There ive said it… So it has to be true…ish.
What id love to see is pics of your Doras. That way i can get an idea of paint schemes. Also any pitfalls that i need to look out for. i.e Panel lines that need rescribing, etc.
This kit has an enormous wing root gap. Ive sorted it with superglue and revell filler. What did you use if you had this problem.
Well, I got the Hase 1:32 D-9 that’s on deck soon. I’m gonna use this kit to super detail it with some extra goodies which are more than twice the price of the freakin’ kit. I just got my D-9 walkaround book yesterday and gave it a read. I’ll let you know when it gets underway.
Thanks for the kind words. The Trimaster kit is still arguably the most accurate D9 available in 1/48. It’s a little more complicated and pricey than the Tamiya 190 but the fit is very good. It’s recommended to cement the upper wings to fuse. first to aviod a wing root gap. I did just that and all went well. You must also open the wheel bay and add the exposed engine and plumbing. A resin engine plug is available from parts-r-parts.
Awww Geeez Manny, dont you go on… Blah blah blah… Just cant get the guy to shut up. (JOKING)
Perhaps you could try telling us what kit it is? That would be nice. By the name on the side, could this belong to Barkhorn? (301 Kills) 2nd Highest tally of air to air kills.
Here I am, representin’ the 1/72 “bottom of the barrel”, as it where. Here is my no-interior, basic-exterior Airfix Dora.
Favorite Shot-^
True, it may not be as detailed as some others, but for some reason I REALLY like how it turned out. Maybe it’s the weathering or simply the wacked-out bottom, but it’s probably one of my favorite little kits of my collection. It actually inspired me to start looking for a Ta 152H next…
Ever notice the somewhat crude, spliced in, fuselage lengthening section right in front of the fin? It’s a retangle, that hints of recycled gerry-can… And the base of the fin is quite fat.
A true hot-rod nonetheless!
CAPTURED!
“Outstanding” in their field! Each year I go to the Reno National Championship Air Races I wonder if some cool rich dude will show up with one of these and give those Mustangs a real RACE!
This Lang Nausse (sp?) …got a bit on the runny side! OOOPsy! Oil leak!
The oldest built kit still in one piece. One of the few that made it through the move. 1/48 tamiya fw190D-9, JV44 “red 1” this build is about 6 years old.
1/72 hobby boss fw190D-9
