This is one time I am glad I don’t do photos much. My " Man-Cave" is my room which is also my Bedroom!
No pictures of my private space! But there is a narrow area across the room that sports a work table( Folding,3x6) and then underneath. This is my work area, But some health Maintenance equipment is visible even then. There is enough room to build four ships and a plane at one time. Well stacked, I might add!
Oh, I did steal an idea from you. All planes and yes, even some sport boats get hung on the wall across from the window!
The Falcon build was a extremely memorable build with Ezra. First off it was a old school AMC 1970’s original Falcon Kit. The styrene was incredibly thick. When finished it felt like you were holding 20lbs. of dead weight!
While Ezra and I AB this kit, we were utilizing the highlited effects or more commonly known as weathering technique. The Falcon was so big, it took over an hour just to highlight the details with a AB and Testors black enamel high gloss paint.
The poor old Harbor Frieght and Tools compressor became so hot that I had to stop several times to just cool off the main housing of the compressor. Lol! What? Is it that funny? As they say; “You pay for what you get”! And I payed only $99.00 for the Harbor Frieght and Tools compressor.
It also included a Chinese made siphon two stage AB of which still works although I don’t utilize it that much since I was turned on by all of you members on the Iwata AB line. I know for a fact that at some point in the future, I would like to purchase some high end Iwata AB and Iwata compressor. Until then, I’m overjoyed building kits with Ezra!
Have you visited the “My other hobby” thread that I made? It looks absolutely insane on how much money and time spent on collecting stamps, coins, and football cards with Mrs. Toshi and Ezra! So I’ll show you that I completely lost my mind as well as Mrs. Toshi whom had a out of body experience when I wanted to purchase the Tamiya $300.00 Mosqiuto Kit!
Well it was worth it. I so enjoyed the WIP of the kit build sharing my day to day activities with FSM Forum Members. It was also chosen by the FSM editors for the Digital Readers Gallery. It goes to show you that I am just learning on how to build WWII aircraft.
Compared to the veterans here, my build is mediocre at best. But the exciting feeling I get and support you’ve all given me makes this hobby so fun especially when young Ezra is involved.
At least you have the space to do your WIP builds, especially four projects at once as you so mentioned. That’s something I’m yet unable to do. I don’t think I can manipulate, direct myself, and have a creative idea on how to finish a build(s). Thank you sir for the read and reply!
Hi, Toshi - The space craft fighter that Ezra airbrushed looks really well done. I never airbrushed anything until I was in my early twenties, and it didn’t look as good as Ezra’s work.
Please tell Ezra I said he’s a very good modeler, and I think you’re the example of a really good man and Grandfather. I like that you’re so kind and appreciative of your loved ones, especially Mrs. Toshi.
Your hobby loft looks like a great place to spend quality time with your little assistant, in time he will understand the value of the fond memories that you both are creating. I’ll bet he will teach his son’s and grandson’s the tradition.
Well now, you’re way ahead of the game in regards to utilizing an AB. I didn’t even handled one until I was in my late forties early fifties. I’m a really late bloomer.
There are days as well as times that Ezra can get a little mischievous with the AB. He tried to AB the cat once, luckily for that cat, she was a lot faster than Ezra! He’s getting the hang of it, but you can at times still see his child like curiosity engaged.
That’s when I have to step in and take charge of the situation. He likes to take the assorted sandpaper and sponge files as they are very colorful. I don’t mind at all, it’s when he starts to run around the house and hide things in that I get very frustrated with him. I can’t find tools at times for weeks at a time as Ezra will hide my modeling supplies within his toys! Lol!
Thank you for the very kind words, I will let Ezra know that he’s a good modeler. As for his future, I can only very simply lead by example and show him other opportunities that are available. But as everyone here knows, having fun in ones hobby is the key to a happy and successful life! Thank you for the read and reply.
Hey guys, building four at a time is easy. Ya just stack them on the top of the paint indexing drawers( A little plastic file cabinet.) Two models wide and two high. The one I work on gets front position.
I do have to admit to you Tosh that I am a little tad jealous. You are building so much time with Ezra and I never got to do that with mine. All because of a snooty response to something said in a very Emotional time ( My first Wife’s Memorial Service). Not me -(Them ) The Children ( Mine).
You have a very nice work/display area. I would be nervous with the ones in the railing, seems like a long drop it they fell. Also you have a lot of trust in those Command Hooks for hanging the builds on the wall.
Ok here is my current setup in a spare bedroom which I share with my mother-in-law who is a scrapbooker. I have two walls
A couple of old nightstands with a piece of leftover melamine for a top. The wall shelf is an old headboard.
I just added on the left side of my bench a spraybooth made from leftover plywood, melamine, and plexiglass. The fan was $13 from Amazon. Works for now
And the biggest project I’ve done to date. My display cabinet. 8 feet long 6 feet high. The shelves came from a store going out of business. Plexiglass doors to help with the dust.
And last is my stash. In the closet of the bedroom I use for my man cave
Work at the kitchen table. No real work bench for me. Banana anyone? Paint in the garage. Go Ferrari! Keep materials in the downstairs room adjacent to garage. Wife won’t let me use this as an exclusive modeling room. I do have the dedicated table. Its a Redskin helmet not Florida State if you were wondering.
Well,I got it to the point that I’m comfortable and productive,it would be nice to finish the basement,but that’s not gonna happen in the near term.The whole setup works fine for me

I returned home to take care of my dad knowing that he didn’t have that long to live. I dropped everything and I literally mean everything in Amsterdam to return home to be a in home care person to him. To me, that’s the most honorable thing you can do for your parents as they did the same for you.
That’s how I met Mrs. Toshi. I took a part time job as a waiter at a local very well know restaurant called Zippy’s. Mrs. Toshi was a co-worker of mine. I never really took the job that seriously as I was playing music in the evenings.
I used to go to work at Zippy’s to BS with customers. One day we were so busy yet I still stood at a table of my regular customers whom we all shared an interest in philatelic. Mrs. Toshi got upset with me and yelled out at the top of her voice so that even the customers could hear, she said (In a very angry and confrontational way) stop talking and clear tables, cash people out, sit people to their tables. In other words; “Do Your Dam Job”!!! LOL!!!
Right then and there I knew she is wife material by telling men what to do! Lol! The rest is history. As for the money situation, when my father passed away, everyone wanted a piece of his life insurance policy. Even my grandparents wanted in, matter of fact, they threatened to sue me.
But everyone was too late. I knew what to do as I took power of attorney. And that was that. I took my family and moved off that very over crowded volcanic rock 3000 miles away from anything. It was too expensive to live there as Hawaii doesn’t have any form of funds in production, its economy is funded by tourism.
Of course my main point to move my family away from the toxic attitude of my side of the family. Till this day, my children know nothing about my side of the family. With that being said, we are very close to Mrs. Toshi’s family. That’s why I insist Ezra’s time with us is so very important and also my priority in his guidance in life.
There is only one family member that I still keep in contact with almost everyday, that would be my one and only younger brother. He’s a EMT in Palm Springs, California. Anyway, every family has a skeleton in their closet. Thank you sir for sharing as well as the read and reply! Your support means so much to Ezra and I!
Well the balcony issue with myself is that I have no other option to display Ezra’s and I builds. The small wall area is beginning to get really crowded. Mrs. Toshi and I have decided that when my Workman’s Compensation situation is settled, we will move and purchase a home with space. But for now, this works.
The 3M hooks work just ok. I did have some hooks that detached itself from the wall in the middle of the night! I don’t know why it happens only at a specific time. Maybe it’s the bewitching hour! Lol!
So far I lost a Tamiya Landcaster, Trumpeter Kingfisher, and some other builds that I can’t recall! Thank you for the support and the read and reply!
