I SAY YES! I would like to see model kits come with pilots (its only a little bit of plastic…!) I am a fan of aircraft in action, but planes dont fly themselves! It is very hard to find figures of pilots in the cockpits.
What do you think?

ONLY if they are NICE pilots in interesting poses, if they are not they will get ditched anyway and replaced with AM pilots.

Don’t really expect pilots the quality fo the FIne Molds SW kits, but something better than what was the standard fare packaged so far.
yes, I think they should. Then the builder has the option of using the figure or leaving
it out if they want to superdetail the cockpit.
Sure, but only if they’d bother to update them so (for newer a/c) they’re not wearing Vietnam-era survival gear and helmets.
I agree!!! I personally don’t use them but the more options, the better!
Very good point, Mattp!
Totally agree with you folks. It will make the plane more lifely especially in diaroma. But please, like mattp said, they have to be in the right era and nation. Remember Airfix pilots? Every propeller plane has the same pilot figure despite of nation and all jets has the same pilot in all era.
They most definately should.
but it will never happen, considering aftermarket companies would pay model companies not to include pilots so they dont lose revenue
I’ll put a big YES to that also. I hang onto every pilot figure I can get my hands onto and use them where they will fit in like with the Pedro I’m working on now will have a crew of German pilots scavanged from other kits and from other modelers. I am currently trying to come up with a crew for the AM TBM so if you have any 1/48 navy flyers you don’t need …
Yes. Several pilots in different poses. Crewmen too.

Well - to be honest, I don’t like pilots in cockpits - my models show mostly standing and resting planes, not flying or starting. I rather like pilots and crew members standing near planes. But on the other hand - it is always better to have a choice - to put the pilot/gunner/navigator inside or not. So I think, producers should give us a possibility to choose (it means - they should make pilot figures too) Reagards ! Aleksander
I don’t always use them but it is a nice option. I like the one that comes with the Tamiya ME262, arm doin something interesting. I also like all the ground crew Tamiya includes. I collect them and will do them for a future rainy day.
Totally!! that’s one of the things that I love about academy’s 1/32 F-18, no only did they include a pilot but 2 with different posses and heads including NVGs, plus 2 ground crew figures and the quality and detail is amazing!!!
Speaking as a long time aircraft mechanic(40 years), I’ve seen enough pilots, I’m spending good money for a kit because of the interest in the aircraft. I would like to see more ground personnel though.
I think they should. Even if I dont use the pilots, I can at least dtill out the head and place the helmet in the seat or something. This F-18 Im currently working on has some great figures too. It has 2 or 3 pilots and some ground crew , and they dont look that bad for kit supplied figures. Unfortunatly, the plane is so big, I dont have the room to make a scene out of it, so maybe some other time will I use these.
Yes, but only if they don’t look like grubs (esp in 1/72).
I think they should and along with that I wish the wheels would fit in the wells when landing gear is posed in the up position.
I like accurate Pilot and Crewmember figures with accessory limbs/heads, so I can pose them as I see fit, or put them into my “Figures” spares box. I don’t make a diorama out of every model I build, and lets face it, sometimes it’s fun to play with the airplane!!
Verooommmm…

I think they should although if you have a superdetailed cockpit including the pilot will blank most detail. However if your cockpit is void or bad the inclusion of pilot will save the day and spice up things. I have experience of both things…lol
