Shibai Sazabi SD

So after a semester of sitting on the pics, here is my Shibai Sazabi. This is one of the newest of Bandai’s SD Gundams. They are pretty good quality, unlike my Grappler Gouf which has like 8 pieces. They are kinda like miniature HG models. I really like them. He was originally white, but I thought that was too boring. I went with a candy red, not sure if the pics really show it. I’d like to keep working with the candy colors and learn how to make it a bit brighter and shinier. He is completely hand painted with very little masking, I wanted to see if I could freehand the details. Some mistakes but I’m happy. Let me know what you guys think.

Whoa, that’s pretty cool. Very complicated looking. Jumped right back in w/ a roar, didn’t ya? [:D]

The stitching(?) on the shoulder and hip armor turned out real nice.

For the candy red, did you use metallics? Enamels or Acrylics? I know some tricks to make things appear brighter, but it only works w/ acrylics…

Nice job.

Thank you. The gold “fabric” parts were just painted gold and then I very carefully filled int he panel lines with my very fine tip pen. I still havn’t tried an oil wash but I think it would have been easier. My pen nib gets stuck in the future but maybe an hour isn’t enough for it to dry right.

The colors were all Tamiya acrylics. I think the bottom was chrome and the top was clear red. I wanted him shiny so I didn’t dull the future at all. I’d love to hear your tips because I will definately try another candy scheme in the near future.
