Sherman Tow Point Question

I am building a M4A3E3(76)W HVSS. I’m trying to think ahead to the tow cable. My question is how does the cable connect to the tow points, front and back? The four tow point are made of two “dogears” sticking out side by side. I asume they have holes through them. Is there a “L” shaped pin that would go through the ears for cable, or one of those horseshoe looking conectors,[whose name escapes me]? I hope this makes sense, and any info would be very welcomed.

You have the basic idea. Usually a L shaped pin went throug the holes in the two tow points. You could also see tow shackles (horseshoe looking conectors), but they were not as common.

Thanks for the info. I like to figure out these things while still in pieces. I’ve got wire to bend.[:D]

Those horseshoe looking connectors are called clevis hooks,a horseshoe shape body with a bolt that threads on one end at the top.
