Sherman re-gift.

I got this re-gift at a dirty-Santa game, Revell 1:32 Scale M4 Sherman Tank. The person who re-gifted this kit has nothing but bad things to say about Revell Tanks.

I dont know much about Tanks much less a Revell tank. So, is this an OK, Decent, or good model? Should I keep it (and build it) or should I re-gift the sucker?

Inquiring minds want to know…

Turn it into something awesome!

It sounds like the original Monogram M4 Hedge Hog kit from the 1960s. Factor in the age and understand that the Sherman tank in 1/35 scale is probably at its apex of modeling development today by several manufacturers, and you’ll see why he re-gifted it.

In other words, he gave you a 50 yr old can of Spam in a world where Tasca’s filet mignon, Dragon’s prime rib, Academy’s T-bone and Tamiya’s sirloin steaks are readily available.

Suddenly, I feel very hungry. [::DD0]

It is not a BAD kit. Straight OOB it builds into an initial production M4 75mm Direct Vision with M3 suspension. It has a few dress up parts-sandbags for the hull, Cullen Hedgerow plow, and some planks for the turret. Areas needing work to make it proper are the rear lower hull and the tracks.

this is OOB

and this is what can be done by a master with this kit.

Keep the fruitcake and re-gift this dog of a kit…

Re-gift it… To me… Takes a Modeler to build that kit, not an Assembler…

[6]

It may not be the most accurate kit of a Sherman, but once upon a time it was the best game in town. I probably built a half-dozen or so way back when, and built the M4A1 almost OOB a couple of years ago, for the sheer fun of it…

I agree, for decades it was the best thing Sherman.

Give it a go, see how it turns out

You know you are right! Best of all… That sounds like a challenge.

I think I’ll keep it and try my hand at armor with this “can of spam”… besides with a little cheese and some fresh rolls you can make spam burgers. Tell me, what hungry man will not give spam burgers a second look?

The hungry man flippin’ ribeye on the grill!

It ain’t the kit, man…it’s the MODELER! [:|]

Dingdingdingding![Y]

After weeks of eating MRE’s a can of Spam and a loaf of bread obtained while on KP can be a delicacy…[;)]

Come on, go for it…

Build away dude, and get us some pics.

Given my limited and precious resource known as “time”, I’d rather spend it on a good kit that is a joy to build than an ancient kit that requires equal amounts of putty, Bondo and glue. That’s just me though. I do enjoy building kits from my youth that have some sort of sentimental value and seeing what I can do with them now.

Am I the only one after reading Rob’s account,

'In other words, he gave you a 50 yr old can of Spam in a world where Tasca’s filet mignon, Dragon’s prime rib, Academy’s T-bone and Tamiya’s sirloin steaks"

that is hungry for steak?

[::DD0] Beef! it’s what’s for dinner…

Its the best model kit of a Sherman ever made!
