Sherman M4 & M4A3 in progress pix

As I promised last night, here are a couple of in progress pictures of what will probably be next on my list to finish. I’ll go into the details of each in the final post, but just wanted to get these up today. The M4A3 will be using a Verlinden turret, and the tracks??? Gary

Details? Whose kits, etc…Inquiring minds want to know.

Great job so far!

who makes thouse kits?

Can’t wait to see them done!

Nice work! The M4A3 and most likely the M4 could use the hull side applique however. The M4 did appear without it but I think the M4A3, even in early production, had the applique slabs. HTH

OK, OK! You guys are really picking on me SO STOP IT RIGHT NOW! But really, I was just trying to save myself some time last night by not putting in the particulars of each model. So here they are…The left one (above) is a mid production M4 as is drawn in R.P. Hunnicut’s book on page 132. This model is pretty much as the drawing shows it on that page, just a stripped down, base model, that hasn’t gone to service yet. The turret is a Verlinden piece. The upper hull is from MP Models (Are they out of business now, anyone?) The lower hull is mainly the Tamiya M4A3 piece with the rear plate added from the Italeri M4A1, and a Verlinden 3 piece trans/diff in the front. The bogies and metal chevron tracks are also from the Tamiya kit, but the extended end connectors have all been removed from the tracks. Whew, that was tough! Now to the M4A3 (pictured on the right). This is a late production dry stowage model with the early cast trans/diff (that I modified from the Tamiya M4A3 part). My reference picture for this one also came out of the R.P. Hunnicut book, on page 156. The turret will be a Verlinden piece with the M34A1 gun mount. The lower hull is Tamiya, and I added sand shields as per my ref picture. The tracks for this one, I just don’t know. I’ll have to see if I have any leftovers from an M3 Lee or Grant, as they should work. (Why didn’t I think of this one years ago???[banghead][banghead]) Thanks for the comments as I sure can use the free advice! Gary
