This is some of the fruits of the “Great Sherman Family Build”
Just want to say - I enjoyed being a part of the “Sherman family build” . A lot of “shermocology” was tossed about and shared with alot of nice people.
And special thanks to Sherm for keeping everybody on track !
It all started with a “Castoff” turret I came across. From that I added:
MP M4A4 hull
AFV - V VSS suspension
Accurate Armor tracks
Accurate Armor update kit for the firefly
Accurate Armor decals
Verlinden - British stowage
Ultracast - british tank crew
Eduard - alum. barrel
Eduard - PE for Dragon’s firefly
Assorted pieces stolen out of an Dragon M4A4 kit
Scratch built detail
This is not the way to do a firefly, if cost is a factor !!![wow]
The MP hull has all the right stuff in the right places but the crispness of the molding is not there. I replaced some of the pieces on the hull. The one thing that was nice about the MP ( but doesn’t show ) is the raised casting lettering on the nose.
The Accurate Armor tracks were a nice surprise - never used them before - it was a nice alternative to indy links. Great detail ! Flexible resin - shaped with a hair dryer.
I preshaded with black. Then applied Tamiya XF-13 ( Japanese Army Green )
Drybrushed with buff
Washed w/pastels
The figures didn’t come out that well but throgh the magic of photography - they don’t seem to be that bad
Wow, looks like you really went all out on this. THe preshaded effect really comes through. I think I’ll try that out soon. The drybrushing with the buff have you a really subtle dusted effect. I really like it. Great job!!!
Build22 Nice job ! what detail very kool , and I think the figures look fine also Must have been a very time consuming little project from the detail on it ! Great job ![8D]
Yeah, I don’t usually get into too much stowage…but I think it really helps out here.
The figs did come out descent in the pictures. But like I said in the sherman group build - looking right at them - they need some work. The commander looks like Freddy Krueger from Nightmare on Elm str. - in need of some serious plastic surgery !
zokissima - the dusting effect I got was from a couple short blasts of buff from the airbrush. I don’t know - I think it might have looked better before - not sure
Sherm - the ultracast figs were great. [tup]Very clean, crisp, nice deep detail, and no sink holes … nothing ! They come in tan colored resin - ( a little easier for that base coat of flesh color ). It came with one 3/4 body, two 1/2 bodies and extra heads to choose from.
Buff - just sprayed the whole thing with a rattle can of testors flat black. It sticks like crazy and covers well. Works out good for rubber on the road wheels too
