Well here it is all finished except for the figure which is still in the works. If there is anything else that could improve it please tell. This was the first time I had done a wash,even though it’s not really showing up on the pics. It is straight OOB ,may add some little things to it later.Thanks everyone for the help, I think this is my best build I’ve had thus far. My little brother is going to be the reciepiant of this for his birthday and since that’s still over a month away I’m thinking about doing a dio for it. Shermanfreak, don’t worry I’m positive this won’t be my only Sherman.
Nice job Chris. I like it especially when there are a lot of things on the deck, crates, boxes, etc. Looks cool. I bet it will be even better with the crew on it.
Because of your post, I was encouraged to start work on my M4A3 105. My second Sherman.
Chris, great looking Sherman! Shermanfreak is probably gushing with pride like a new father. The only thing I might do is find something to secure the gear on the rear deck. I’ve found my monitor doesn’t pick up everything, but the weathering looks well done from my seat. Your going to have a happy brother.

Dwight- Nice to know I was a positive influience for a change.
Tigerman- I have been thinking the same thing about something to secure the cargo. I just have not come up with anything yet that I have the stuff to do it with and would still be able to tell whats under it. If anyone has any ideas they would be appreciated.

Just a couple of quick comments (seeing as you have time before the gift goes out), as Eric (Tigerman) has already stated, consider your stowage, what’s holding it in place or what’s it hanging on to. Quite easy additions with a piece of tarp or rope. Second, appears you missed a nasty little seem on the spare road wheels and last but not least … don’t forget an antenna. All together some very minor stuff.
I think you did a great job of weathering your Shermie, nothing I like better than seeing a dirty, filthy tank. Keep up the great work Chris and thanks for sharing with us.
Robert - Thanks for the tips. I did realize I left off the antenna after I posted the pics. A ? on that thugh would be how long should it be and what color would it be ie:silver,black ,od. As far as rop goes what would look like the right scale, I have some string that is used for construction but it seems like it would look like a large rope. Glad you liked it, even though from what I’ve seen on here there’s not many a Sherman you don’t like!

Chris - antennas can be about an inch in length and O.D.
As far as rope goes … I have some string that I’ve had around for a lot of years … raid you wife’s sewing basket and see what she has.
Never met a Sherman I didn’t like … but a critique is a critique whether it’s a Sherman or a Tiger.
If I like it I’ll say so, and if I don’t like it … well I may just not say anything.

Great kit, from what I’ve heard. I don’t have the cash, though. Actually, I don’t even have a real Sherman kit yet, either. I’ll go bury my head in the sand, now…

Why would anyone buy that Verlinden Isherman when there are two other great kits available (Dragon and Academy) at a fraction of the cost?
I seriously doubt the Verlinden kit is THAT much better than either of the injection offerings, but I guess that’s what you have to say when you’re competing with products that cost one fifth of yours.
I’m sure it’s a great kit, but…

Hey Lzard, great work bud. I am not an expert on Allied Armor, but you have done a good job for your first time with this type of Armor. You will only get better myfriend. I agree with Shermie on a few things, but they are easliy corrected, or mistakles taht you will not do again.
I have only one critism and it is a big one… Where the hell is the Zimmerit??? [:D]
Robert- I’ll get some pics of her work up soon. Right now all the parts are still on the sprues about half painted, ran out of propellent. I did post a 57 vette in the auto forum that she did the majority of painting on. Figured I would start her out with something small.Matter of fact she just saw this and went to get to work on it.
Demon69- I don’t think I’ll be putting down that much for a kit anytime soon. It was hard enough to get away with the money for this Sherman. Being my brothers b-day present was the allowable excuse ( next time I go to a shop just have to her at home).
Rob- Thanks. The zimmerit is just out of the pic. But if you look down the barrell you should see it about 75 yds out.
Ok I did a few of the things that were pointed out. The antenna was just an oversight and has been added. Commander is getting a fix on that zimmerit Moses brought up. I scratch built a cargo net for the back and was looking for some opinions about it. Does it look like it could be close to the right scale? If it does look right I still need to dirty it up some. Thanks.
Oh and Shermanfreak, the progress my wife is making since she saw your pleading for pics should let me get some decent in progress pics up maybe tonite sometime.

Yea I have two kids, one 5 and one 2. They can make building an adventure in thier own little way. The 5 year old built his first kit for his birthday, just a die cast VW bug but he thought it was the best. The 2 year old just likes to build things with paint jars. It is nice having a wife that gets into it, of coarse I have answered many questions on the howitzer today. Did’nt think there would be that many tiny pieces and not very good instructions. She even likes watching the history channel and complained that she can’t get anything done because of it.
Cargo net … never thought about a cargo net. It will probably work just fine Chris, I would try to make it lay down a little more though, you may want to soak it in white glue / water and then press it down to contour to the load. Maybe a tad over-scale … but what do I know about cargo nets.
