Hey everyone! I have finally managed to finish my M4 Sherman that I’d been working on. This is the 1/72 scale Esci Sherman that I’ve had in my stash for many years. Here are the pics:

Wow, great job! Hard to believe it’s 1/72 scale.[tup][tup][tup]
[:D]I like that!. I dont know how you do it at that scale.
A Sherman 1/35 will be my next purchase but that wont be untill the Autumn.
It’s outdoor’s, gardening and walking in the hills for a while. Cheers…Kenny
way to go duke… great job as always !!!
Great job!
Great looking little Shermie, Duke.
Great looking Sherman Duke. I love that kit. I have 2 in the stash right now. the ESCI and Itaileri versions. Only difference is the Italieri has both link-n-length tracks and vinyl tracks. I see you put the fenders on. I already have one with the fenders on so my next one will be with them off.
Great job on the build.
Fine job, Duke!
Thanks guys! It is heartwarming to read all these great comments. I am so pleased that you all like my work. I had fun building this little guy.
Now, I need to finish a few more kits that have been on my bench for far too long!
I’ll keep everyone posted.
Looks pretty good overall.
Couple things to watch out for.
Silvering on the decal on the nose. Try a gloss coat before applying the decals to reduce this.
The Ma Deuce has mold lines, especially noticeable on the muzzle after you dry brushed it.
Something that could kick it up a notch would be to drill out or replace the lift rings (those D shaped protrusions near the corners) with copper wire.
I built this tank 21 years ago and it’s always been a favorite.
If this keeps up I’m going to have to try 1/72 again… [:o)] Your sherman looks great
Looks great. It is one of my favorite old 1/72 scale kits. I’ve recently started one with the Armo conversion to make it into an M4A1 early (small hull hatches, no loader’s hatch). You’ve given me some motivation to finish mine.
Duke,
Nice job on a little Sherman. Nice to see someone else working with braille scale.
Great job on the tiny armor!
Thanks guys for the great comments.
Rob, I’m glad to provide some motivation; you’ve always done great with any kit you’ve built.
mjohnson, thanks! The only armor I build is Braille Scale armor! [8D]
Aj, it is great to hear from you again! Thanks for the tips on how to improve. I’m not sure why the decal silvered on the nose; I sprayed Future opver the whole thing before applying the decals. Maybe the Future wasn’t coated well enough in the nose. I’ll watch for that on future kits.
I’ll get to work on the Ma Duece to improve it more. I hadn’t noticed the mold lines until you pointed them out. Thank you for that!
Thank you also for the tip on the lift rings. That’s another thing I’ll get to work on. I hope to get the pics posted in a few days. Right now, I’m preparing for a fishing trip and then there’s other things to do as well when I get back.
Great job Duke. It’s always humbling to see the level of detail and quality of finish you achieve with these tiny kits.
