Can anyone help me with some sherman Calliope references. I just got the ESCI 1/72 scale kit off of ebay, and I’m having trouble finding… just about anything on it. I’ve gone through “Sherman in Action” and “Sherman Walk Around”, but have only been able to find a handfull of pics by google-ing it. If anyone knows any good books I should pick up or anywhere where I can look it up online? Thanks

A decent reference is the Osprey Modelling Manual No. 14 Modelling the Sherman Tank there is a full build of a 1/35 scale kit. You could easily use some of the methods for your build. A second would be FSM back issues. There were a few articles in the back issues that dealt with construction of a “Screamin Mimi” T-34 Rocket Launcher Equipped Sherman.
Hope this helps some.

Thanks for the help. I’ll have to look back through all my old FSM’s to see if I can find it. And I’ve had my eye on that book for a while now, and now it looks like I have an excuse… err…umm… reason to get it [:D]

Save yourself the time going through every issue and check the “Browse by subject” link to the articles on Shermans. Then you’ll know which issues to pull out. Also check the articles index fro FSM. If you’re missing the issue and it is not available through the back issues section let me know I would be happy to reference for you. I have all issues of FSM from the Test Issue of '82 to present.

I stumbled across the mother lode of pictures for you (19 of them)…
Please take a look at the following thread at missing-lynx:

I hope that this helps
Allied_Axis number 10 has an article on US Rocket systems including several pics of the Calliope. I have the FSM with the scale plans for the early and late rocket mounts. It is an older one. Unfortunately I loaned it to a friend last week but I should have it back later this week. If you are interested in the plans I can photograph the book (no scanner), just email me and tell me you want the calliope plans.
