Here is my Dewoitine 520. It is a 1/72 kit by Hasegawa. I brush painted it.
Your’s does look better but I am catching up… lol.

Nothing wrong with that at all. Very nice and very colorful. Thanks for sharing and keep up the good work.
Nice model Kurt. Since most airplanes are referred to as, “she”, is this one having a gender identity crisis? Maybe “little sister” would be more accurate. Oh well, whatever floats your boat. Congrats on a nice build.

That was brush painted? Doesn’t look like it.
Nice job, mate.
Yea, that looks really nice indeed!!

All - Thanks for the nice words and encouragement.
Yardbird - Leave it up to and old “SAC Trained Killer” to point out grammatical errors. I told you that I was ready for OF status.

nice work Kurt

Nice looking build. Very good brush painting.

That is a fine piece of work especially because it IS brush painted. I didn’t use an airbrush until I had been modeling for about 15 years. Good job.
Some schemes-such as this one-are more suited to brush painting. Just finish up with a wet sand and some spray on Dullcoat. Very nice job! And I just love those strange WW2 French planes (being French myself).
Dan
All - Thanks for the comments.
Dan - I am currently working on 2 Morane Saulniers of the WWII era. I hope to have them ready for paint by Monday. These are 1/48 HobbyCraft models that are fairly nice builds.
Kurt
Kurt-do either have Vichy markings? Those are cool.
Dan
Kurt: I’ve looked at your photo a dozen times and I’m still trying to figure out what you need to be “catching up” to. I see a build I would be proud of if my clumsy fat fingers could make a presentable model in 1/72, so your own OF status is in doubt, since I’m supposedly a frog hair to young to qualify, and you are a little older than me, I think.
Dan: From what I remember, and I don’t have the references in front of me, so a more educated person in French WW II a/c can answer more fully, this is the story on the yellow: What both Kurt and I have modeled is a single D.520 that was, for some reason, often photographed, hence this particular D.520’s popularity with kit and decal makers. It was photographed before the Nazi occupation, without the yellow tail, and after, when they applied the yellow Vichy aft fuselage/tail and spinner, but not the cowling as are most Vichy a/c. The lack of red horizontal stripes is correct for this airplane, based on photo evidence, and color profiles, including the one I used from the “Flying Colors” book. If you can find this, or if it’s still in print, it’s a great source of choices of schemes for all kinds and periods of aircraft, and is pretty accurate overall. I’ve been using it for 20 years, and it’s still a fine reference for colors and markings. The Squadron/Signal “WW II French Fighters In Action” book, which I can’t seem to find in all my junk lately, is a good source to start from.

Dan - The Moranes will be done in a captured German marking and a Finnish marking. I have the decals for the French, but the roundels were off center and would look bad on the aircraft.
Tom - Thaks for the nice words. My OF status was granted early by Yardbird due to another posting. I too am 5 years too young (next month) to oficially qualify as an OF. For those taking off their shoes and socks to do the math, I will be 55 in March. (And it seemed like yesterday when I graduated from high school.)
Kurt
Hey! I just realized it’s a 1/72 kit. Great job. I’m 50 and obviously a premature OF.
