"Shangri-La", Don Gentile's P-51B Mustang

Here’s a few pics of the 1/48 Tamiya kit…quite a few interesting stories involving this aircraft! Enjoy…

C’mon. The top picture CAN’T be the model!! If it is, you can paint figures better than anyone I’ve ever seen!![:D][:D] Great-looking model!! One difference that I did notice was that the top picture showed red wheels, but the model has green wheels. Not that I’m a RIVET COUNTER or anything…

very nice build. well done.

Hi Gary, thanks for the kind words! On closer inspection, the wheels on the actual A/C are red…how’d I miss that!? I did mine with aluminum and a wash of burnt umber, I thought Gentile’s were just dirty!! Mine do look kinda green in the pics, I guess, but they’re “dirty aluminum”. I guess I better get the brush and bottle back out!!

Nice looking 'stang. Gentile is a pretty interesting guy, as was his plane. Good job.

Nice job been meaning to do Gentiles B for a long time. Yours is very nice. JOHN

Great model, and even better pix. With the backdrop the second picture looks like it’s real. Thanks for sharing.
