Looks great, Matt!
I look forward to reading all about it in the January issue.
I’m still trying to find that kit here in Japan!
You guys in the States are pickin’ 'em up three at a time for 7 bux each at Target, and I can’t even find ONE here!
Thanks!
For the record, the kit’s not that easy to find here, either! I have two copies (including the built-up shown here). I found them both at Target, but I had to pick them up on separate trips – both times they only had one copy left on the shelf.
And I’ve yet to see one in a hobby shop.
I hope this one will be a big success, and I can’t wait to see the Klingon D7

Great looking build, Matt! A beautiful ship beautifully recreated. Hat’s off! I’m definately looking forward to the review.

PL’s gonna do a D7, too?
Happy Happy,
Joy Joy!
There are several upcoming Polar Lights Trek kits. According to the information I collected at RCHTA:
A 1/350 scale glue-together Enterprise NX-01 is due this fall
A 1/1000 scale snap-together Klingon D7 Battle Cruiser is due to be released in Jan, 2004
A Scorpion from Star Trek: Nemesis is due in July, 2004
Cool, huh?
Matt
Kudos Matthew! A beautiful build of a beautiful ship. Brings tears to my eyes. Can’t wait to see it in FSM.
Lee
Thanks for the kind words, guys!
Here’s a little better shot of the model:

Thanks for the info, Matt.
Again, what a beautiful E that is! Superb job!
A 1/350 NX-01? That’s gonna be pretty big, eh?
I do recall hearing about the Scorpion release.
All good news for Trek fans!
I just found 2 sitting at the Hobby Lobby in Woodstock Ga…I didnt buy them though. Anyone nearby looking for one you should take advantage of the 50% off before it ends.
Regarding the Scorpion from Nemesis, I checked my DVD to remind myself of just what the Scorpion was. For any who don’t know, it is the little 2-seat attack craft used by Data and Picard to escape from the Reman dreadnought.
I’m sure Polar Lights will do a fine job on the kit but I would much rather have seen a kit of the larger and more impressive Reman ship that took on the Enterprise in a battle to the death. Does anyone else agree?
Memeau, I agree wholeheartedly.
I’m not excited about the Scorpion release at all, to be honest, but the big ship would be very cool.
Brian, I’m sending you an e-mail.
Very nice Enterprise Matt! I’m just getting into 1/1000 Star Trek kits and yours is very inspirational. I’m waiting and hoping for more 1/1000 scale releases from PL.
I here this model includes decals to creat the ISS Enterprise from “Mirror Mirror”. Does this version of the Enterprise use unique parts as well [i.e. warp nacel caps]. I hope Hobby Lobby has another sale soon because they just got a WHOLE LOT of new stuff they didn’t have when the sale was going on. [I guess that’s why they had the sale, to make room!lol]
Matt,
Looks beautiful. Out of curiousity, what color did you use to paint the hull? That’s always been an age old question for 1701 modelers -‘what color should it be?’
As the instructions suggest, I painted the hull Testor Model Master Light Ghost Gray. I saw the original model at the Smithsonian this summer, and it looks like a pretty good match to me.
If not, I can always adjust my TV!
Matt @ FSM
Yeah I went to the Smithsonian a few years ago and saw the Enterprise. A few years ago me and some co-workers went on a “pilgrimmage” to see the Starwars exhibit. The Millinium Falcon actually has Champion Spark plug decals [the red “bow-tie” ones]on it!LOL
