Posted this in decals to, hopefully get a response out of one of them.
Hey guys im looking at buying some decals for my intruders dio and im not sure if i should get them or not. has anyone used decals from Seridecal, or colorado decals? im not sure who actually makes them, theyre listed as colorado decals but the name on the sheet says printed in Portugal by seridecal.
Anyone know what theyre like? Any help in much appreciated.
I am pretty sure that they used to go by the name Carpena Decals in the past. I have used one set of theirs (on a Mirage 2000C) and was happy with the results. They work and react well with Micro Set/Micro Sol and are nice and thin. I have a couple more sets of theirs and will be using them again.
Cool, thanks guys. ill have to put my order through then. Ive managed to find a set of decals for an A-6E and a KA-6D from VA-176 which should help my dio buzz along a little better. Next question, whats the best method of removing old paint? Ive heard of oven cleaner. but how much of it, how long to i leave it on etc, Im using Tamiya Acrylics.
There is a product in the Polly scale line from Testors called Easy Lift Off- ELO. If you have access to that I highly recommend it. Otherwise, yes, Easy Off oven cleaner is a good paint remover, but it is very caustic. Use caution. It depends on the thickness and age for the paint for time it should be allowed to sit on the model. Seeing how Tamiya acrylics are not as resilient as other paints, it should not be too long. Experiment on a small area of the model first. Also have an old toothbrush handy to use for scrubbing recessed areas and crevices.
