Serb t-72

what did the Serb t-72’s have modification wise and what markings did they have?

Look up the M-84 tank. Its a Yugoslav built version used by Serb forces in the wars there. Overall it is similar to the T-72M1 with some mods on the fire control. There is a different larger gunners sight housing on the roof of the turret, and a wind sensor mast behind the mantlet on the top front of the turret. I served a tour over in Bosnia in 2005 and saw a few of those tanks in Serb territory on bases there. They were painted an overall dark green that was very badly faded/weathered and had white three or four digit numbers stenciled on the turrets. Otherwise no discernable markings.

thanks

Don’t know if this helps but Kirin did a conversion kit, out of production now but do crop up on e-bay, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Kirin-Yugoslav-Free-Kuwaiti-M-84-Tank-1-35-Model-Kit_W0QQitemZ160038459138QQihZ006QQcategoryZ2588QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item160038459138

i think i’m going to do this as my first model with scratch building.

For reference on the M-84 try this site. ACE does 1/72 armor but search their catalog on the site, they have good reference photos and links to other sites with photos. I wish all model manufactures had web sites like these.

Let me know if you get any other resources. I have a collection of pics that I can put into a zip file and send over. I’ve been meaning to build the M-84 for a while now.

The Kirin M-84 tank is just the Dragon T-72 kit with some resin conversion pieces added in. Kirin also did the same thing with the Dragon T-72 to produce the T-72 lion of Babylon. Both kits were just a way to capitalize on the first Gulf War.
