Take pause today to remember the fallen. God Bless America.

Hard to believe it’s been 6 years already.

I was far too close to ground zero to ever forget.

Yeah, can’t imagine it has been 6 years.

I was working as a NOC at that time, and when the building collapsed it actually took out a 3 stories building next to it where it housed all major telco’s circuit.

All my network alarm suddently when RED for that area.

We lost 3 guys in that building.

I went to Nags Head NC for vacation the week prior to 9/11. As a rule I always take off a full week and take the monday off for the next week as well, therefore making for a short work week.

While we were at Nags Head NC,… my wife suggested that we take a ride in the biplane (a WWII trainer) that flys around the outer banks so we did that Sunday. It was a lot of fun!

We got back home on Monday and I had the day off. I went to work on Tuesday morning at a regional airport overseeing the rehabilitation of a runway subgrade landing strip (Modified compaction efforts as required by the FAA) when my wife called and told me what was happening. An FAA regional supervisor told me a few minutes later what kind of plane it actually was that hit the 1st tower and said it was gonna drop. A few minutes later the second plane hit and the FAA ran us off of the tarmac.

I was at home with my 3 yr old, watching good morning america. I called my wife, and told her to watch. I never want to see anything like that again.

Amin to that brother …[#toast]

I was at the ground zero day after the incident. I couldn’t sleep for a week after spending 2 days over there. Something that’ll stay in my mind for rest of my life.

I was watching the “Today” show when it happened. At the time I lived across the street from a strip mall with an armed forces recruiting office. Went in later that day and talked to the Navy CPO recruiter and asked to come back on active duty. He did some checking and after asking about my health told me that 54 was too old especially with 2 heart attacks. After my 20 years including VietNam and later Desert Storm I somehow felt I’d not done my job well enough. Never forget our loses and remember this—just like Pearl Harbor we didn’t ask for this. WE WILL have justice…Rm1 Rick Martin, USN, RET’d

I was also watching the Today show. I just sat there and stared, unbelieving. Later that day we actaully opened up the shop, watched TV all day 'til some guy came in and wanted to price some work, acting like it was just another day. Blew my mind so bad, we just closed up, pretty much in his face, went home. I still have a hard time seeing clips on TV.

I was in driver / operator school for the fire department I work for. The secretary from upstairs burst into the room on the first morning of class with the news. School stopped immediately and we all went upstairs to watch the news live. Within 12 hours, we were making plans and arrangements to mobilize to assist at ground zero. I never got to go because my shift was in the beginning of our cycle on, but I can say that for several days, all normal daily activities were forgotten except for running calls and our butts were glued to a chair and our eyes to the TV.

i was on my way to salt lake city with a load of particle board or dry wall, woke up turned on the cb… dead quiet(wierd for channel 19 not even skip)made it to jerome id just in time to watch the first tower fall(i’m sorry but my first thought “was wow those demo guys work fast”),felt angry scared and down right mad.never forget.

I still remember exactly what I was doing when it happened(sleeping) and then waking up to it, waking up my uncle in the other room, calling my mother and my ex(fiance at the time), and every other thing I did and thought at the time. I woke up between tower one being hit and tower two being hit. I thought for sure it was to be the beginning of WWIII. Sure as hell glad I was wrong.

i think we should be praying for our country every day. especially for the victims, their families, and for the ones looking for angels, that they would find them.

I remeber when I saw it on TV of course I was 10 and didn’t know how much this has effect the world, but when I saw ground zero in a trip to New York I now know how much chaos has been cause.

It has been 6 years since 9/11, the same time of world war 2 has lasted, yet somehow they don’t seem the same.

That was a horrible day. I remember going to see my wife, who was my fiance at the time, that evening. We were taking a walk and I just remember that I had the same feeling I had the day that my brother died about ten years before. Very, very bad.

Being all the way here in New Zealand, i was asleep when that happened due to the time difference. Remember my mum come banging into my room to go watch the news. By the time i did, both towers had already collapsed.

It was a sad day all over the world and as mentioned on that day, all of us felt like Americans on that day.

Kids were in school and I had just dropped mom off at the beauty parlor. OMG, sat in disbelief listening to the car radio. I was a sergeant working uniform on the south side of St Louis scheduled to start at 3pm. I went in to work early, since we didn’t know what was going to happen next. At roll call the major came in and ran down a list of events that happened that day and stated " keep the cars gassed up because we don’t know where we will be needed and you may have to drive a distance." One of my officers waited for the boss to leave and said “That’ll just make 'em burn better” Gotta love a police officers gallows humor, sure broke the tension in the room. Then we lined up and for the first time in what was then a 22 year career the desk officer issued extra shotgun shells, pistol ammo, and for those of us who had been trained we took out our assault rifles. Very sobering when you wear blue, I was a marine and saw some “stuff” but this was different, this was HOME. Anyway I paired people up so nobody was alone and there was at least one experienced person with every newbie. The hard part was the next morning when I spoke with my son. He was called from class and the boys were allowed to watch the events on tv. he said as he walked in he saw policemen running away from something. He didn’t yet know where or what but as he said later" I knew it was really bad because you never see cops running away from anything." The loss was devastating, and some of the NYPD guys and gals I’ve spoken to got promoted to fill vacancies caused by fatalities. ALL said they’d rather have their comrades back than the promotion, same with the FDNY. Anyway, enough rambling. Remember, never forget…

Sadly most of the people running to be our next President already have. God I wish I was young again.
