I’m currently working on yet another Airfix kit (yeah I know another old one) of the Douglas Boston Havoc Mk.III 1/72 scale. Where can I find replacement/aftermarket propellers for this particular aircraft? I carefully sanded, trimmed, and shaped the props to rid of minor flash one the first one. When I went to do the second prop, I found to my dismay, the propeller blades were molded too thin with one blade warped. It would look too deformed to even try to fix it; minor flash and all on the props. Is there anything I can use as replacement propellers? I don’ t have spare parts resources to fall back on. Ideas anyone?
There are aftermarket firms that make resin props. Don’t know if there is one specifically for a Boston, but I suspect that was a popular engine, so there may be some out there. Of course, you could also try to get an exact replacement from Airfix, depending on HOW old the kit is. With the latter you contact Airfix directly. For the aftermarket ones, many of the larger online retailers like Squadron, Rollmodels, etc. have pretty good search engines to help you find things.
I did contact Airfix this morning. Airfix did respond to me in an email and told me they will send me replacement parts via the U.K.
