How did they sued to secure road weels and tracks to shermans, i know they would tie stuff to hooks but it jsut seems diferent to laso a weels and hand it on a hook
I’ve seen some pictures where it looks like crews had makeshift brackets welded to the hull of the tank to hold various extra bits of equipment. I don’t know if any of them were ‘official’ modifications, but I’d guess they were ‘in the field’ alterations.
With the tracks it depended on if they were spare tracks or tracks used for additional protection.
Spares were mounted in racks so they could be removed and used when necessary.
Track “armour” was usually welded in place such as the sides of the turret.
Spare road wheels were sometimes mounted on a piece of threaded rod so they could be removed for use.
