Hi, I am searching for modelers in the Montreal area. I live on the south shore of Montreal and I would like to do some scale modeling with somebody of my region.
I am new to this hobby so I hope it doesn’t mind you.
i’m in south central part of ontario so to far for me even tho my mother was born in montreal in the early 40’s.

Like I said in another post, I just started about a year ago, and still can’t decide if I prefer armor or aircraft.
Also, I saw your other thread in the painting forum about Citadel paints. I like them, except for the fact that they are extremely expensive versus other paints (I use Tamiya acrylics for hand brushing but like others have said, they don’t do a really good job for covering large areas).

Yes you are right. The only thing I don’t like about Udisco is their customer service that is very bad. When you ask a question at the employees, most of them will look at you like you are disturbing them. The only employees that I saw giving good service are the tall man, asiatic look, with a baseball cap that is always there to help you or to give you some information about the plane you want to buy and any other scale models in the store. The other one is “Elan”. A young man that is always there when you have a question about model railroading. If those two employes were not working there, this store would be in bad shape.
They are such a big store. That is actually whats nice about smaller stores, you can hang out more talk models. I live just a few blocks from Udisco, I go there a lot, everyone is really nice to me And they have EVERYTHING.
Serious, people not from Montreal, if you are ever here on vacation check it out!

The next meet is Feb 21st. If I do not get called to work that night, you will find me there! Maybe you will go too? It will be my first time at a model club…excited.

Somebody told me that they are often fighting and arguing at the IPMS club of Montreal and that he decied he had enough.
hmmm…I could picture that, lol. Guess I will find out in two weeks!

I live in the West Island, near the airport. I also live 5 minutes from Hobby Junction in Dorval. It’s a great hobby shop. Not nearly as big as Udisco, but a great selection nonetheless,and they do carry a fair amount of books and aftermarket stuff Udisco doesn’t carry. And you don’t have to deal with the not of this world staff that Udisco have.
I actually prefer much more Hobby Junction than Udisco.
Like Buff said, Udisco is this large warehouse with this almost endless number of kits available in all sizes and shapes. But their customer service is, at best, non-existent. Go there if you really really really really know what you’re looking for.
Hobby Junction is more like a (literally) packed to the wall hobby shop with excellent prices, great selection of various modeling tools, and, most important, an extremely friendly staff who is sometimes too talkative (which is a good thing).
They also have a “used” section of stuff that other customers returned (which consists mostly of already opened boxes of new kits, I bought a 1/700 scale Hobby Boss sub for 3 dollars, just because the box was opened)
