Hi Everyone, just got hold of the Pheonix Ultimate Seafire F46/47, lots of great detail in there. Question, they the company are pointing to an all black[:(!] "pit’ . In all my references I cannot find a good pic of the Seafire F46/47 cockpit. I am certain the RAF/RNAS did not go to black until much later than the '46-52 time frame of the pistons then in service.

I am going to assume that the cockpit is RAF interior green unless someone knows different and can change the mind of this green cockpit lover.

I remember reading some reviews on Airfix’s Seafire FR.46/47, so I checked them out and both of them say, that cockpit actually is black. You can check it out:

It appears you were right, have checked around some more and indeed the Seafire and the Seafury had black cockpits. Will post pics when I am complete.

There’s a Seafire FR 47 just been restored in the US. It’s been restored in 804 Sqn colours, though it was restored with a modified Griffon, and a prop from a Shackleton. There were a couple of nice pics in “Aeroplane” magazine this month
