SdKfz 250/9 in prog.

Here is a shot of my Tamiya 250/9 with Eduard PE. The spare vision blocks were painted with silver and transparent green, the effect is quite good but not really visible in this shot. I used salt weathering for the chiped paint and a steel dry brush for added wear.

HI Derek,

More pics? specially interiors pics !

Nice start, Derek. Need more pics!

Yeah… GIVE US MORE!!! Its lookin real good chief…

Looking good so far. You should vary the chippings of the paint a little more. They all look about the same size [:)]

It isn’t glued to the rug, is it? I’ll join in the more pic request too![:D]

Looks great so far, I can’t wait to see how it turns out [:)]

Nice one! [:D]

I especially like the stowed smg [;)]

Hey, I do a lot of 1/700 waterline kits - how did you do the sea base? [:o)]

Very nice Derek. Thanks for sharing the picture with us.

Thanks for the comments.
Zokissima: Good observation, maybe next time i’ll mix in some Kosher salt too.
Will get more pics up soon. Should be a few over the next few days as this winds down.

Sorry Andy, I do 1/96 - 1/350 full hull. [:D]

Looks great!
Needs more pictures!
like the mp40 on the wall

Looking good Derek. Glad to see another one with the salt trick. I’m suprised no one has mentioned wanting to see more pics of it yet, but bring them on anyway!

Well, even though no-one has asked for more pics I’m gonna post some anyway.

This first is a shot of the front of the crew compartment showing some of the stowage.

Rear of the crew compartment showing fire extinguisher and MG34 ammo drums on the wall and the large 20mm ammo storage cans.

In this view I was trying to show the color of the vision blocks but I am not having much success. The method used seems very effective if not a touch too green.

Coming up next will be the weapon and mount.

Very nice Derek, but how 'bout some more pics. [:D] Okay, I’ll shut up now.

very nice so far. looking very good.

Very good! I do like the extra viewing glass color, when it is thick like that you do see a lot of green, especially if it has a slight tint to it for bright sun. I got a question, what was the normal color of the interior of the 250s and the demags? and what models did they change or if they did? Ya know between the a,b ,c, ds?

Great looking pics , Derek.

The details look sharp. I hope the fit up of your 250/9 is going better than my 140/1!

Regards, Dan

TY for the comments.

Interior color was the same as the exterior color on all open vehicles (halftracks Marder, etc.) but camoflage colors were not carried over into the vehicle. The changes occured when the paint specifications changed so it wouldn’t be for a specific vehicle. If the paint specs change during the “B” model run As and some Bs would be the previous scheme and some Bs and all the Cs and Ds would be the later. As would also have been repainted in the later scheme. You have to go by the period of the war not the Mod. of the vehicle for the scheme (I wouldn’t knock a model of a 251/1 Ausf A with three-tone exterior and a grey interior though.)

Looks like there will be a little trouble getting the hull halves to fit right, I think I’ll have to match up and glue one panel at a time.

I think this will be my standard method vision block now, the more I look the more I like. [:D]

I had little trouble joining the halves on mine, Derek. Those smooth sides are real easy to sand.
Look forward to some more updates.

Matt

Looks like it’s going to be an awesome model when finished.
