Scratchbuilding Brick buildings.

I’ve seen how to build buildings with just stuco walls but is there an easy way to build small scale brick buildings like the ones found in western Europe? I really am having fun scratch building things so I don’t really want to go out and buy those fancy kits.

i made them of plaster and carve the building stones in it with a x-acto knife.
a secure job but worth the efforts.

i started to make individual bricks out of terracotta modeling clay, roll out a sheet to thickness desired then cut the bricks out.

not the best piccys but when painted and finished will look good i hope!!

You can make a simple mold with plastic…And pour some moldano plaster…

And scribing done with an Olfa scriber and X-Acto…

And finally some washes and drybrushing…

I’ve been wondering about this myself. You can use carving foam, but as Hans said, I think a good idea is to pour a slab in plaster, then carve in the bricks. YOu can have total control this way, and you can texture the surface of the plaster as well.

Tha best material is balsa foam.Easy carving, lightweight and nice texture…

Thanks everyone. Hans and Mmaker those are exactly the looks that I want. What scale are those if you don’t mind me asking?

Jaysun,
i work in S scale (1/64).

Mine is a little more bigger…figure is about 7"…
