Scratch Bv 222 Dockwagen- ALMOST ready for paint!

I’ve been adding the final details on my scratchbuilt Bv 222 Dockwagen before painting. I used plastic tube to replicate piping and plastic card to make those two boxes on the upper deck (don’t know what THEY were for…). The railings are all brass tube.

There are still one or two detials that I need to add, but nothing noticeable. A series of guages on the upper decking between the boxes is the main thing, along with a few mounting straps for the piping. Apart from that, this sucker is almost ready to paint!

After paint, I can add the wooden accents- the actual flying boat cradle, upper decking walkways, etc. Stay tuned!!

Congratulations!!! that flying boat sure looks neat!!!..big!!!..how about more pics.???

Just out of curiosity, Lucien, do you ever build anything, umm … small?

Great job on the scratchbuilding. Puts my meager efforts to date to shame!

Looks great Lucien, puts the resin kit to shame !

She sure is lookin good. Cant wait to see her all painted up! Be sure to post pics… we loove pics!

Can’t wait to see the finished project - it really looks good thus far.

Cheers,

Eric

Thanks, all, for the comments. I’m actually impressing myself with how well this build is turning out. It should look totally awesome after paint, but I’m thinking the real wood accents are really going to make it “pop”. It should be pretty cool!

I also forgot a major part I still need to add before painting- the rear cradle supports, where the “kink” in the flying boat hull is. I’m still not 100% sure how this is actually done, as the photos are different from the plans, and the plans are rather unclear on this area. I don’t know. I’ll make something up!

Here’s a few more photos of this build, for those who missed them:

Sure, every now and then! Check these out (all 1/72):

(The Hs 129 is smaller than it looks!)
