Hi all i thought i would post some pics of my favorite model subject namely ship preferably steam driven but i love any ship.
She is scratch built based on plans by Vic Smeed
she’s been on hold over the winter as she’s to big to build indoors and its freezing on the outhouse but the summer is coming so soon will be time for more work on her.
so what do you all think so far.

That boat sure looks great - like the real thing did. Are you positive about that deck planking pattern? It looks unusual to me. As for the ships forum - maybe make a new thread with one-two pictures and a link to this thread - would be best IMO. Good luck with your project and have a nice day

Hi she is not intended to be a specific ship and I have seen that deck pattern on some old black and white photos of a sternwheeler rotting somewhere. Not good with computers don’t know how to do a link thingy any help would be appreciated thanks in advance

I once did a deck of a sailing ship and it was very different, so I asked.
As for the link it’s easy here - just copy the page URL from the browser bar and paste in a post - like this (a link to this very thread):

Great build kpnuts! Nice work. A fellow showed up at our local pond with one. He had a cassett tape deck down in the hull loaded with Dixieland Jazz music. The people there loved it.

Yes mine is a slightly more modern version it has an mp3 player in it (much lighter and less room too and I could probably fit every piece of Dixieland music ever recorded on it. Thanks all for looking
As far as posting in two forums. I would probably try to make the posts a little different, maybe concentrate on one of the ships per post in the ships forum. Lots of folks do it that way when they are new to the forum- several posts of their individual models. And, yes, I think you should definitely post on the ship forum in addition to this one.

Great job! I like your deck planking, too. She’s really beautiful! Forget the Dixieland though - steam calliope music is the way to go. But what’s this about you’re building it in your outhouse! Oh well, I’ve done some of my best work on the pot too! I bought tne plans to the Avalon (aka: Belle of Louisville) so I could wax nostalgic about growing up next to the Mississippi River while building it. Hope to have the time. Are you going to do another? You really need to. Also, Question. Is that the THAMES River Steamer Waverly on the shelf in the background? When you decide to do another see if you can go to your local Library and get info on the greatest line of steamers on the river, mainly the J.M.White
. She and her predecessors ( as you know more than one carried the same name) were considered ,at the last, to be the most beautiful steamers on the MISSISSIPPI.
By the way the deck pattern was seen on the steamer SACRAMENTO, after she made the voyage around South America to go to CALIFORNIA for the Gold Rush ! The steamer OCCIDENTAL and the Captain Morse also had it .The Captain Morse was a " Snag Steamer " ( She removed hazardous snags from the river) These boats are engraved on my mind as building them in their glorious beauty is one of my main hobbies. I build them in 1/87 or H.O. scale. Good Job! ! T.B.
