Scratch Build a castle

Hi all;

While I am not in a position to start such a project, watching a show on TV last night got me to thinking about building a castle and its surrounding landscape. Back in HS we had to build a castle, but we didn’t get the time to do it right.

Has anyone out there ever done anything like this? If anyone has any pics, I’d be interested in seeing them.

Thanks,
Chris

I built one out of sugar cubes when I was a kid…LOL Seriously though, there are several ways to go about it. You can buy those sheets of brick or concrete and glue them to your frame work, or buy plaster sheet from Verlinden. check out Verlinden for ideas, they probably have castle stuff. If you subsribe to anything like Military History magazine, there are some toy soldier companies that have got some great stuff. One is really into Sparticus figures, but also does minitures from other great movies like the Vikings and might have some prebuilt stuff you could incorporate.

Thanks a lot for your answer!

I will check out the sources listed.

You might want to look through some of the books Games Workshop puts out to support their Warhammer, Warhammer 40K, and Lord of the Rings games, lots of neat ideas for scenery and structures and a few examples of castles and fortifications.

Good hunting

Plaster of Paris and balsa wood would be a good way to build your own type of castle. There are plenty of reference photos on the web. Just do a google search ’ castle '.

Woodland Scenics has everything for the landscape.
