"Scooter" started pics

This is the Hase. 1/48 A4C Skyhawk kit that, if I can find the decal sheet, will convert to a L. Everything will be ootb except a resin seat, split flaps, and speed brakes from Aires.

Stayin busy in Ahiya,

Jerry

Real nice start! I always like the details on the Aires sets, but the sanding and grinding to get them to fit is scary! My F-4 cockpit walls were almost paper thin before they fit! Can’t wait to see more pictures

Lookin really good, Jerry! Nice detail!

Nice start Jerry, looking good so far.

Regards, Rick

great so far

You’re making me crazy again, Jerry!

Keep the inspiration coming!! [tup]

You did a great job on the cockpit. You can really see all the details in it !

Nothing better than to see such a great start on a Scooter. Keep the pics coming. You have inspired to me start yet another.

Nice looking Scooter Jerry!

Funny thing…seems to be a popular trend these days…did you notice the newest Squadron supplement? What specific decals would you be hunting for?

I am working on a 1/72 scale Fujimi A4F conversion to A4K “Kahu” RNZAF…the gray looks too blue, the grren too brown and the light green like a chromate (I have zippy patience for fiddling with my camera settings, but plenty trying to make new antennas from sheet styrene, go figure)…oh well [banghead]…its for the Aussie/Anzac Group Build. (no intention to hijack your thread here, it really did strike me as strange to all of a sudden start seeing all these 'Hawks, starting with Pixillater’s on out to the “blitz” by Squadron!)

Nice start Jerry. Seems every time there is a “completed” or '“started” or “progress” post here lately it yours. You are a modeling maniac… which is a good thing![:D]

Thanks alot Jason, radmax,Rick, Joe,Ross,Mage, and Warlock.

Joe rugby…strangely enough, you probably don’t remember but, I started this model for the first ootb GB. Unfortunately, it didn’t fit the categorie, and you told me No, no, no. . I just thought since I’ve already srarted… to go ahead and build it. The decals I’m looking for are from Eagle Cal which I ordered laast night from Great Models. Are they in stock is anybody’s guess. Since it’s an A4 C, I wanted to do something a little different, and this sheet, I think, is pretty cool. I’ll have to convert it to a L, and add the avionics hump and I got lucky cause the Aires resin set comes with the split flaps that is correct for an L.

Marc, things are a little slow as far as work goes, and I’ve had a lot of time to work on models. I’m having alot of fun, but I’m not making any money. Hope you don’t mind all the posts.

Jerry

Now I remember…since you are converting a C to an L did you have to lengthen the forward fuselage? I am curious to hear your take on the Eagle Cals…looking forward to the finished photos…

Fortunately I don’t have to alter the length. An F4L is just an upgraded C. Modifications included an uprated J-65 engine, split flaps with spoilers, and updated electronic gear housed in the fuselage hump. I also believe they installed a wider escapac seat which I must have cause I had to sand the sides a little to get it to fit.

I’ve used Eagle Cal decals before, and was very happy with them.

Hi Jerry, the office looks great! A fine start you’ve made there. Hope to see more pics soon. Darren.
